Buy a 2009 or 2008
I've started looking to replace my 2001 SCrew and was debating between getting a 2009 or a 2008. I'm not in a rush - my truck has 76000 and is running well - just feel it's time to get something newer. I can probably get a better deal on the '08, with all the rebates etc., but was wondering what those here would suggest.
Thanks in advance for the help.

You're obviously not one to have to have the latest greatest, or you probably would have traded your truck in '04......
Stating that, i'd say go with the '08. You'll get the truck for about $6-9K less than a similarly equiped '09 depending on how well you negotiate and where you deal. You'll be more than happy with it.
Now, one thing I do have to say is after driving the new 6-speed....i'll probably be getting a new truck next year to replace my '04 screw 4X4 Lariat. Course, my truck has 140K on it right now......

Could you please refrain from continuously belittling the members of this forum with your ridiculous and grammar-lacking statements.
As has been previously stated, you can walk away with an 08 for practically nothing, especially now that the 09 is garnering the attention. The 09 is a better truck, but then again, every refresh is going to have major changes to set it apart.
I was in a similar situation. I had a 2000 Lariat Screw 4x4 (bought it new). By 2006 I only had 56K on the odometer. I REALLY wanted the new 04 when it came out, but didn't really NEED it. Now THAT was a completely NEW truck right there. The 97-03 vs the 04 is the perennial definition of a completely new truck. Anyway, in 06 when Ford had 0% interest for 72 months, I gave the new F150 some serious consideration. When my local dealer offered me premium $$ for my mint garage kept 2000, and you couple that with 0% APR for 72 months, coupled with the X-plan, well even Barritia can sum up that one.
Keep in mind how much a dealer may be willing to give you for you gorgeous 01. If they seem pretty fair, and you can score a great deal on an 09, then go for it. Since the 09 is not a completely new truck, there really are not a lot of bugs to be worked out, if any. All the major improvements are options which have been in place on other Fords for some time now.
The only major visual cues that really set the 09's apart from the 04-08's are the typical refresh changes, altered front and rear ends, couple of new body creases here and there, new badges.....just enough to tell it's an 09.
If I were you, I would probably take the plunge. We have to assume that everything from a financial standpoint is taken care of, otherwise you wouldn't have posted. The leap from my 00 to my 06 was a radical one, so I know from personal experience you will fall in love with the 09.
BUT....(devils advocate here ), one cannot deny the crazy deals they are having on the 08's. Depending on your situation, you could walk away with literally no truck payment (much like I did w/my 06) if you opted for an 08. Pretty sweet deal !
Keep us posted on what ever you decide (plus some pics ) !!!!!!!

Thanks everyone for all of your input. Financially, it will all come down to what the monthly payment will be as obviously the lower the monthly nut the better (keeps the wife happy too). I've just started to look around so I'll check out what's left with the 2008's and what deals are available to me. As was noted, they are having some crazy deals on the 2008's. The step up from the 2001 to either truck will be a big change regardless of which I choose.
All that being said, time to do some shopping and see what deals await in both the 08's and 09's.
Thanks again!

The 09 is a better truck, but then again, every refresh is going to have major changes to set it apart. Now please can you provide Prof that it is a refresh, You cant because there is none but there are plenty of people who build them on here and work on them and even on websites that say it is a new truck. So please get correct information before posting, You only make your self look stupid

Now for one they are not crazy deals on the 08's done the math for both of them and thats the reason i went with the 09's + you try and find a 08 in the spec you want. because i couldn't and would have ended up with something i didn't want

Aint your fault Bigs. Some people are just sad like that and have to attack others. Check out both trucks in person and im almost certain you will have the 09 over the 08.
