Problems On The Horizon
Below is a link to an article about the problems Ford is already having with the 2009 Update.

the 6.2L that they reffered to as being not available until the 2011 model year would be the "Twin Force" 6.2L application-which will be unimaginable in a half ton
the regular 6.2L will come much earlier than that
and i really don't care if it is a full re-design, the truck we have now is excellent, just need more power and a better tranny
the most intresting part of that article is that the supercrew will have more room than the mega cab ram and the crew max tundra?
that is a **** load of room

Flags at half mast pls.... IF it is true that no new engines for three more years, not only will Ford be bankrupt, they DESERVE to be for this stupidity. I find this hard to beleive. I have almost 130,000 m now, I can't wait another 3 years!
Stupid Ford....
My day is so ruined. Do I really have to buy a 09 GM Sierra with a 6.2L and a 6 speed....
The fact that this is not a total redesign does not come as a surprise. They just redesigned the chassis of this truck and I would expect it to stick around for atleast 10 years. The 2004 F150 chassis is still the most solid platform on the market today and I don't see any other manufacturers posing a threat in building a stronger platform.
As for the body and interior re-vamp, this is a step in the right direction. New styling sells trucks and the 2004 interior is starting to look a little dated when compared to the new Sierra and Silverado models that came out earlier this year.
I can see why Ford is delaying the launch of the 6.2l - direct injection and twin turbos on an engine of that sort is a big undertaking and will need extensive development and testing. BUT Ford is going to take a big blow if they don't roll out a diesel in the 2009 model. The 4.4l already exists - you can order it as an option on the Range Rover. Ford only has to bring this motor up to the US emissions standards and they have had ample time to do it. American consumers are looking for fuel economy on trucks these days and Ford has the WORST fuel economy in the half-ton market (Dodge is debatable). Many consumers, myself included are likely to turn to the new Tundra or another manufacturer that beats Ford to the market in releasing a half ton diesel. If this article is true, I can not see how Ford can continue to survive in the automotive market while making such poor business decisions.

hi everyone ! havent been on since i traded the f150 for the mustang ! not to come off sounding negative but ! this is typical ford and there pickup misery ! just one let down after another ! they promise but dont deliver ! oh well when the 2009 comes out late next year, im sure it will look awesome and im sure as usual it will be under powered ! so there you are in your brand new redisigned f150, sitting at a light and some other brand chevy, dodge, nissan, toyota pulls next up in the nextlane and says hey nice truck ! and then when the light turns green you get your *** handed to you ! but thats ok because your in a newly redisgned f150, then when you get home you will searching the forums to see what you can waste more money on to make the already underpowered but awesome looking 2009 f150 faster ! yes i have an attitude about lack of power in the current f150 ! and before you go off on me, i did something about it ! yeah ! bye!bye! f slowfifty ! hello mustang !

Oh, and this is my LAST F150... time for a F-SuperDuty... since Ford doesn't want the "consumer" market allowed to drive stick in a truck with a v8. I'll just have to go with commerical power in a F-SuperDuty.... Enough toying around.
I think Ford should just cut the F150 entirely. Just like the Ranger. If your gonna get bad gas mileage... just get a decent truck to burn the gas/diesel. Besides... 1/2 of the junk I haul is WAY over the weight capacity of the F150, even the 7700 series.
Ummm... but what ever... Ford's got money to blow, and they don't give to craps about the customer. All Ford does is make things look "flashy" but have NO get up and GO... just like the 500 (taurus), that thing needed a bigger v6 or a v8 option with RWD. So what does Ford do? Keeps the crappy Duratec 3.0 and stays Front Wheel drive. Whatta freakin' joke.
who cares if nots not a full redesign? when chevy redesigned the previous to the previous style they still did good, those were barely different.
no v6 or diesel till 2011? i dont care.
no BOSS 6.2 till 2011? Time for operation can of whoopass.

You mean 2011?! Right?
You guys need to simmer down a bit!
Look, all that article was is Edmunds thinking outloud about what they think that they know! Wait till the facts come out from FORD before you cast judgement! Believe me FORD MOTOR CO., does not want to loose it's market share in the F-150! Do you know how many EDMUNDS ARTICLES I have read when a new or refreshened model comes out, that EDMUNDS has been wrong about.......many.......wait for the facts then be pissed off, if need be!........
