V6-20.5?
Dude on my last road trip with my 5.43v SuperCrew, I got 19.6 MPG & was pushing 80-85MPH the whole way, if I slowed down, heck I'd be getting at least 20 MPG! Smaller engines like v-6's work way too hard to really get good MPG, for the size of the vehicle they are in, & you suffer from driving a truck that has limited payload & towing abilities........not a good tradeoff in my estimation........

Igor posted the following on another forum. Dearborn Derek also confirmed that Igor is a lot closer with his info than the piece from Edmund's...
" LET'S GET THIS STRAIGHT
The Edmunds article is COMPLETELY INCORRECT
Their sources basically messed up the releases of the Twin Force engines and the base version of the same engines ..
The below is what I have been posting all over the internet .. and THAT BELOW .. IS CORRECT - unlike the Edmunds piece :
The truck will launch in the fall of 2008 (as a 2009 model) with:
4V DOHC PFI 3.7l V6 (about 280 ft.lbf at 2000 rpm) (not sure about transmission)
3V SOHC PFI 4.6l V8 with 6speed auto (Explorer combo - 292 hp and 300 lb.-ft)
3V SOHC PFI 5.4l 6speed auto (Expedition combo - 300 hp and 365 lb.-ft ) - likely with somewhat more power than this (about 325hp and 380lb-ft)
NO BOSS ENGINES
2009 1/2 Model (Februaury 2009) will add:
2V SOHC PFI 6.2l V8 BOSS engine (iron block, aluminium head) with 6speed auto (425hp)
2010 Model (fall 2009) will add:
DOHC 4.4l Common Rail Diesel with CGI block (315hp and 520 lb-ft)
4V DOHC TT DI 3.5l V6 - Twin Turbocharged Direct injected (Twin Force - 350hp, 380 lb-ft at 2000 rpm)
2011 or 2012 model will add:
4V DOHC TT TIVCT DI 6.2l V8 - Twin independent variable cam timing, twin turbocharged, direct injected (Twin Force - over 650 lb - ft)
So in short: The truck will launch with the 3.7l V6, the 6.2l V8 will be 6 months late, and the Twin Force 3.5l V6 and the Diesel will be 12 months late.

im sorry, im calling bull**** on some of you guys' mpg estimates, unless of course you drive like a grandma!!! and have the V6
oh and my V6 F-150 was quicker than my 5.4L F-150 i have now, which is faster than your newer F-150 with a 5.4L 3v, so calling the V6 slow is kinda moronic, now the V6 in the new F-150 has to be pretty slow

Ive raced my dads 00 with 5.4 and my buddies 03 with 5.4 (both supercabs) and won. As far as a v-6 being faster.......HAHA.......how do you even figure...

Mr.Squirrel is correct. The OBS v6 was pretty dang quick... The NBS... you can tell the weight is there... but not that much... that v6 handles it well.
Besides... what's the point... I can still lay rubber... burnout... waste tires, gas, etc... but I am 1 or 2 seconds slower than you?! I can live with that. That's why it's my DD and my Dak is my funtime machine.
