Just got this truck, found this right off the bat!
@BillSF9c
Sir, I am so sorry to hear about this. Yes you are so correct! Eye protection is a must for any work on almost any thing. I typically am lax in some area, but with springs and things like that, I try and remember to wear protective gear. Thanks for the additional reminder.
Again, thanks for the reminder and I am very sorry there hear about your injury.

@Patman
Good and thanks!
Had a post all typed out and I thought I sent it but did not. LOL I am getting old!
The jest of it was that I was having trouble with the parking lights and the tag lights... they were not working... but they were when I sent it off to be inspected... Did a bit of searching and had some direction... first stop was the fuse box, pulled old #6 and bingo it was blown.... But as we all know it blew for a reason... and that reason needs to be found.... I did put a new fuse in and cked the lights... the parking lights came back, and one of the tag lights was working.... I had them both out and had changed to known good tested bulbs.... The passenger side socket was toast... that could have been the cause for the short too.... SOOOO.... I ordered knew ones for both sides, and new led style 194 tag lights.... Ill get them next week and take it back to be get the inspection slip..... I already replaced the compression fitting and the leaky power steering return hose... So just about there.... again.. seems Ive been here before.... LOL
Good and thanks!

Just got back from getting truck reinspected and getting two year tag sticker for it. Hope that was not wishful thinking! I think I will consider this truck done, for now.
Thanks again all who read my posts, commented and helped!

Yes sir, It is good to clean those coolers I am sure! I cleaned the radiator one completely, both the coolant part and the trans tank part.... Also cleaned the fins et al while I was at it. I was not a careful as you were with the solution for cleaning. I just sprayed brake parts cleaner into the radiator trans cooler tank and sloshed it around let it drain and did it until it all came out clear. I used brake cleaner on the valve body et al as well. I was not planning on messing with the aux cooler in front of the radiator knowing the fittings were probably going to give me a fight. One did and I just let all drain before I put the new fitting in. And you are correct about the need for flushing the trans... I learned way more about Ford radiators then I ever wanted to know! LOL

The design of the stock [Trans] item is the most efficient cooler type, but impossible to actually clean fragments from. The radiator, portion you can clean. Anyway, I put in a new 2" radiator at the same time.

I think you were smart to put in the thicker cored radiator, especially if you pull a trailer... Nothing wrong with paying attention to detail and trying to do it, aka clean it, or what ever the best you can.
So just when I thought I was done, I have this awful squealing from the belt/pulleys. I was suspect of the ac compressor, or the alternator, but now after further checking it may be the belt.... I want to replace it with the so called "quiet belt" by good year I think the gator back belt.. but cant find it. I think the belt I need is 101.5" long. So I am going to go with a different one from good year and see what happens.... the current one is new and it is a gates.... and it is loud.... so I hope it helps....

Thanks for the comment! And you are correct! It was All brand new! Tensioner, all the idler pulleys, and the belt... I was concerned that it was related to the original problem, and it would happen again but I am pretty sure now it is the belt. I cked all the related stuff... it was all ok I thought... It is a squeal and not a grinding noise that a bad bearing would make... put just a little water on the belt and it all goes silent.... I am thinking belt...
THANKS for the suggestion, made me think about all that... I will ck it out!
Gurus, comment please?
Took the fan off and radiator shroud off together. Looked all the pulleys and the belt position on them it all looked good. Took off the belt and cleaned all the pulleys with brake parts cleaner and a rag. None of the pulleys were loose or bad. They had some dirt but they were all still pretty clean compared to the ones I took off.....cleaned the groves on the rest of the pulleys, brake parts cleaner a stainless steel brush, and a rag. Again a little dirty but not too bad.... Put the belt back on, and started the truck. No more squeaks! Now its not all back together yet. I dont think having that big fan with the clutch off will cause any problems once I reinstall everything, but who knows.... Gonna look at the AC clutch et al before I get this all back together, as ac is not working....
Ok got the fan and shroud back on... still no squeaking from the new belt! Think that is finally going to be quiet now... I compared the two belts before I put them on... the first one gates belt, the squeaky one was just a hair longer.... so maybe it was too loose? Replaced it with a Goodyear belt....
Fixed now... Found that the ac clutch works, but there is no charge... gotta keep going on that...

Just finished the AC system removal and reinstall. It was about $400 for all the parts except the evaporator. Not an AC guy but I have a friend that is. He helped me. I had some issues to say the least... I vacuumed the system down Thursday night and still had the *30 ins of hg in the am... some 13 hrs later, it did change at all. So I add two cans of refrigerant and left it at that, had to go to a funeral. It was cooling nicely I thought I was good to go. I returned and the gauges were at zero, the system was flat.... WTF.... I really have no clue what the deal was... SOOO I had another set of gauges and vacuumed it down again.... let it sit until Saturday noonish. Then I put abut 85 psi N2 into the system..... This am, it had dropped about 7 psi.... The temperature had dropped about 15 to 20 degrees and after some reading and a little math, I really think that the drop in readding was due to the temp change. I vacuumed the system again and let it for about an hr, Then I charged the system with three cans of coolant, 36oz, Calls for 37 (Put the oil in before all the vacuuming et al) and just took it for a ride.... blows very cold Air, about 49º or so..... I am hoping that is that... I do have a 2oz can of Freon and dye I could add to top it off other wise its one oz from a whole can, and that wont last....
Couple more things I want to do. Needs a new hitch... Or at least repairs on the current rusty one.... not sure when Ill do that... Other projects backing up now.... gonna hit some of them next....
