2007 Center console hinge snapped. Help

I picked up my center arm rest the other day and a noise came that sounded like a firecracker going off! Has anyone dealt with this? Searched and nothing.

Looking closer it doesn’t appear i can replace the spring onl. It is attached to a hinge and half off it goes into the back wall of the console.

Not having the spring makes that arm rest like a 5 lb weight!

Any advice!

Yeah, good day to buy a lottery ticket.

I've never had the issue, did you pop the lid too far back or what?

Nope just normal up and down and I am never rough on it!
How do I access the set of screws on the bottom half that are behind the cover ?

Judging by the looks of it, the proper way to get it off is by the outside. At least determining from the injection molding flaws.

For some strange reason, I thought the hinge broke too? Don't know why I thought that.

I can see that spring is captured in the hinge, replacing as a unit looks like the only way. It looks like a stiff one too. That one on Ebay looks OK. Don't have any idea how that console is opened up to replace though.

I would imagine the solution would reveal itself if you just pull the center console out of the truck first. The black interior section and the outer silver portion will probably separate easily by removing a few screws that are probably located underneath it all. Do you know if the spring on yours snapped, or if it just lost tension?

The spring snapped! It sounded like a firexracker went off inside. Whats funny is that I do not slam it or anything rough.I take care of my stuff, go figure.
