Got Rearended

Got hit about two months ago by a little Neon, insurance paid up and got everything fixed plus a new bumper.

Went with Bodyguard because of the wonderful customer service. They really worked with me to get a decent shipping price and everything else. Can't say enough good things about them. If you're near Texas, check them out!

Also moved the trailer plug from under the hitch to next to the license plate, no more smashing it on crap, had to get a $30 adapter form Carquest, but I think it's totally worth it. Only thing left is to get some black button-head 1/4" bolts to make the lights harder to steal :jester:

heatshrink, electrical tape, and wire loom over everything, then ziptied out of the way.

Yeah, I felt bad that it totalled her car out, but she was following way to close. Super happy with the bumper, should save me any headaches from future tailgaters

Tail gaters suck. People around these parts are mounting light bars under their rear bumpers. I don't think I'd go that far. Glad to see it worked out good with that slick new bumper.

Sorry you got hit, but dang, that is one sweet looking replacement bumper! I am guessing that Neon was a total loss...

Just FWIW, after I got clobbered a few too many times in my old Ranger, one of the early mods I did to my F150 was a line of fire to give additional stop / tail / turn signal lighting out back, it's really worth the little they cost. Some folks fuss about failures with them, but mine has been on my truck for years and still works like new.

I've thought about getting one of those, or piecing one together from led strips off Amazon, but the round lights in the bumper are plenty bright. I also added another LED bulb in the bottom half of my taillights, wired into brake/turn only.

Same here. I got bumped a couple of times and just put a Bodyguard on last week... exact same bumper (minus the reverse lights).

The only reverse light they showed was the horizontal oval standard type led.......... which is not a very great light.

Were those lights installed by Bodyguard or did you add them after you received the bumper?? Which lights are they??

I had a metal strip added to the bottom for the lights to fit.

Here's the backside of it from Bodyguard

Here's the front afterwards. You can see the weld in the middle of the circle and square.

The lights I got on amazon, just look up flush mount LEDs and brake/signal round leds.

That's awesome!! I had spoken with Bodyguard before my order and I knew they carried Rigid lights and I discussed having a flush mount added. They indicated there was not enough room with the pipe core of this bumper.

Looks like you figured out a great solution. I wish I welded and could do something similar myself. I may have to find someone to help me out. I would much rather mount something flush than hang something off the bottom.

Relocating the trailer wiring receptacles is also a great idea. It appears much more convenient to have them mounted next to the license plate instead of hanging off the receiver.

Thanks for the details!!

You're welcome. I had a local shop weld it up and cut the holes. The pipe is probably close to 6" in diameter and takes up a lot of room. I didn't want to hang the lights underneath cuz I've broke off 2 pairs like that already.

The new dodges have the trailer plugs next to the license plate as well, just makes more sense to keep it clean and out of the way
