I have a 97 f150 and i need to take my bed off. Before I tackle it, I would like some "know-how"!

Undo the bed bolts, undo the gas filler neck, and unhook the tail light connection (there is a central connection by the bumper for both of them). Get a case of beer and two buddies to help you lift it.

yep, your bedbolts are under your bedliner if you have one, and unlike many models they unbolt from the top, it is a Torx key, i cant remember which size

Have fun with the bed bolts. A forewarning you may have to cut them off or weld a nut on top. Just have a couple of T-50 sockets on hand and a good breaker bar.

you know, 2 out of the three tucks i have done, werent bad, my uncles was a batch but that was cuz it was flood damage truck that he got cheap but...,
i always use a homemade penetrating oil made of 2-stoke oil, brake fluid, and a little wd-40 mixed together.
If the look bad soak them a few times, then tighten them a little to break the rust loose then if you have the acess to a impact gun hook that up to them and go to work, impact is better than just force alone.
if you have a forklift, we always clamp 2 4x4's in to the bed rails and pick it up with our forklift(we are lazy)
