I have the Dorman one. Running good so far. But has only been in for about 8 months/2,000 miles. At least plastic won't rust.

Ya I was kinda disappointed when I saw plastic. Plastic doesn't dissipate heat very well. But maybe with it being lifted off the cross member more air can flow across the bottom to cool it.

A Dorman FPDM on Amazon is about $60. A Motorcraft from Tasca Parts is a bit over $100.

Are these the same for all engines? I have a 2005 with almost 230k miles and have never heard of having to replace this part. But I live in Florida, no salt on the roads here in winter...

Might be prudent to just buy one in case I need to replace it

I believe it's a single part number for all 2004+ F-150's that have a FPDM.

Right above the spare tire on the crossmember.
Lower the spare tire, take the two bolts out, and unplug it. Simple as that.

Under your passenger rear seat you have a 4 piece bar that has a hook at the end. Put that together. Next to your license plate should be a hole or lock in a hole. Use truck key to remove lock.
Insert bar into hole into funnel which goes into the tire mechanism. Use lug nut breaker bar with hole in middle of bar to turn the hook counter-clockwise. Turn till tire hits floor. No need to take tire fully out.

sweet I might be picking this up in the next few weeks because my truck seems sluggish and I have had some start up issues ever so often. once a week I would say.

plus I plan on getting a sct tuner soon and want to make sure the truck is in good condition before I throw more at it especially when its going to be computer related.
