My Mod plan, any advice?
My Mod plan, any advice?

So this is my 2005 F150 Lariat 5.4 Triton aka the Green Titan. So far I have Rancho Quicklifts in the front, Ranchos 9000XL in the rear, Raptor wheels on BGF R/T, a Magnaflow muffler SI/DO and I'm looking to do more.
My plan:
-K&N Air Filter (everyone has a different view on them but I'm getting one)
-Gotts Mod
-Window Regulator (Driver's side is about to go)
-H Bar Grille, not a fan of my chrome liner and honeycomb one
-Westin Sportsman Grille Guard
-BFG 35 A/T
-Bushwacker Pocket Style Fender Flares
-Rancho 3" lift
-Some tuner once I have the lift and wheels
I think once all that is done my dream truck will be complete. Any advice on other stuff to do?

IMHO, the big flares like Bushwackers don't look right on a leveled truck...
The H bar to replace the honeycomb was one of my first mods. I hated the honeycomb grille. It just looks too car like to me...
The K&N filter is a good choice. I have one and love it.
Window regulator I wouldn't consider a mod, but at this point, regular maintenance on these trucks. I am about to install drivers door regulator #3...
Rancho 3" lift? Wasn't aware they made a 3".Looking at their web site, all I see is shocks and QuickLift Loadeds available for our trucks...
I just had to replace my brush guard, in my case due to wanting a winch mount. But the Westin Sportsman was on my list, until I found it was not available for the 2004 - 2005. I oped for the Go Rhino Winch Bumper / Brush Guard in black. Took a bit of fiddling to get it right, but it is dead sexy looking now that it is installed... I am VERY impressed with the build quality of this especially compared to the Ebay special Hunter accessories brush guard I had previously... While no battering ram, I seriously doubt Bambi would stand a prayer of causing any front end damage should I end up in a tangle...
I simply LOVE those Raptor wheels. Seriously considering swapping my Pro Comps out for a set of Raptor wheels...

I meant to say 4" actually lol and a guy I was talking to about buying his sportman grille was an 05 and he said it fit perfectly.
And regulator #3? Do you ever use your A/C haha and since you've done this a couple of times now do you have any advice on doing it? My passenger one broke and while I had a shop replace it they said my driver was about to go when I asked them to check it out for me. I know how to take the door apart its actually putting in the regulator that I don't know how to do. When you do it could you take a couple of pictures for me?
And I actually just bought a set of 2012 Raptor wheels that should be here Monday. I'm debating between selling them and actually switching mine out haha
As for the bushwackers, I would put them on until I got the lift and bigger tires, they do look weird on a leveled truck. If I lifted my truck would I have to replace my Quicklift shocks in the front?

Greentitan,
This link should help out on the p/w repair.

All-in-all its not to bad unless your windows are tinted, if so its going to scratch the glass, possibly forcing you to redo your tint. Good Luck on your future trucks mods.

I would LOVE to know where you are finding a Rancho 4" lift. Must be used / takeoff.
The Sportsman grille guard, at least new isn't listed for the '04-'05... I didn't have any used ones available when I was looking...
Why did you buy another set of Raptor wheels? Haha
Are all of these mods going on in the near future? The 4" Ranchos are next to impossible to find (did they even make them for 2wds?), and since you're 2wd like me, I'd go for a 6" lift so that it'll look like a 4wd with a 4". A 4" on a 2wd looks like it isn't even lifted IMO, and you'd barely be able to squeeze the 35's in there with one. I've already decided that the minimum lift for me is 8" (perhaps with a 3" body on top of that) because we're so much lower. One last thing, the 4" Ranchos are desired because you can use stock wheels with them, but if you can't get one, almost all lifts don't work with OEM wheels. I don't know what the offset and backspacing specs on the Raptor wheels are, maybe they'd work with a lift. All lift options are very limited for us.

So KMAC you're saying a 4" lift wouldn't really make my truck look much higher since its 2wd? And not all of it in the near future just everything I want to do to eventually. And my brother has a 6" rough country lift on his dodge ram and he can still use stock wheels. And not necessarily the Rancho lift but at least 4" lift, I prefer Rancho just because it would work well with my Rancho shocks already.
And yes another set, this is the 2012 design and this year I've been buying and selling truck parts as a cash flow while I'm in school but now I'm tempted to switch them out with my 2010 design and sell them but I haven't decided yet haha

Yeah, precisely what I'm saying. Because a stock 2wd is 2-2.5" lower than a stock 4wd. So a 2wd with a 4" lift will essentially look like a 4wd with a 2" level. I'll see if I can take a picture of a 2wd in my parking garage with a 6" and 35's; it look kinda tiny to me. Then I'll take a pic of a leveled 4wd on 34's too. They don't look too different to be honest. Now, the 4" lift in combination with the quicklifts (if they are compatible) could yield ~6" of lift, but a 6" lift is like $200 extra and I'd rather have the 6" with the option for 2 more versus a 4" with the option for 2 more.
Also, Rancho doesn't make the 4" lift anymore and the remaining supplies that were stored away dried up a while ago. They're the only lift for the 04-08 F150, to my knowledge, that will comply with stock wheels. The others all have issues with the +45 offset on stock wheels hitting stuff. So the few 4" Ranchos that do pop up from time to time are very highly sought after (even used), and so draw a high price, usually exceeding the price of a nice, brand new 6" lift. And a lift kit almost always has new shocks included in the price, though it may be possible to have them removed to save some cash.
Gotcha! If you're making money on them, good job! I thought you bought em just cause you liked them, but I guess you said what you were doing before haha. I like the 2013 design, which is when I thought they changed, but if the 2012 is the same, they look awesome. Black with machined accents?
And I was just wondering about the "near future" part for jealousy reasons!

Yea I think the rancho 4" was one of the few lifts for the 04-08's that allowed stock wheels and it's been discontinued and next to impossible to find.
When you say rancho would work well with your rancho shocks are you saying that you just want them all to be the same manufacturer to match?

If everyone is always looking for the Rancho lift then why did Rancho discontinue them? Obviously people are still willing to buy it.
Yes Pizzaman I would like it to be from the same manufacture, I know some lift kits come with new suspension but I know there are some that opt out of it for less money so if I didn't have to buy more shocks and use the fairly new ones I still have I'd like to.
Yea they are the black with machine accents and I would love some pictures of the different size lifts for 2wd. I didn't know that 2wd or 4wd would be a factor in a lift. What is the difference between the two again? The 4wd means all 4 wheels turn by the motor and not just two that are pulled?

Almost the entire front end on a 4wd is different. There's a front differential, just like the rear, but smaller. And the lift pieces have a cutout for the CV axles, which drive the front wheels. The 4wd is part time, so unless you tell it to be in 4wd, the truck operates exactly like a 2wd. But the lifts are somewhat different, enough that a 4wd won't fit a 2wd, and vice versa.
The biggest problem for us is that most people who lift trucks get a 4X4. I got pics of the truck, but he was parked in a different spot than normal and it was so dark, so they're crappy. But it's a 6" (I think) stage II (replacement coilovers) Fabtech set at 6". I took a picture of the subframe just in case Pizzaman can tell the difference between 4 and 6", cause it may be a 4" and that's why it's so low, but I don't think so. He's running ~2" rear block and add a leaf in the rear. I've seen 6" Fabtechs on a few other 2wds and thought they looked pretty small as well. Fabtech is one of the very few kits for us.

Sorry for how awful they are, but my phone is all I got. I checked though, and that has to be a 6" cause Fabtech doesn't even make a 4" lift for 2wds

How much are you selling the H Bar for?
And so its not really worth it to lift my 2wd then? Just do everything else I want to do to it and then later on when I need a new truck get a 4x4? And are those pictures of a 2wd or 4wd?
