4.56's all the way... Those who say it is too much gear have obviously never driven one with a 35" tire and 4.56 gears. Perfect combo for me, driving and towing. I drove it with just the 3.73 gears for a couple years with no issues, but I had a little extra money and decided to go for it and I don't regret it one bit.

I'm running 4.10's with stock tires and it makes a huge improvement for towing and city driving. I had 3.55's stock and it was awful.
I'm not sure why they just don't have them geared with 4.88, 4.56, or 4.10 from the factory. It's a truck for cripes sake. Any lower and it's for cars to get better top end speed.

Yup. Mileage. Heck, that's why the SFE-edition has 3.31 gears, that thing must be a dog. I have the 3.55LS, and I feel that it's fine when unloaded. When I get the flatbed or boat behind it, it could use some taller gears to help with acceleration, but it still tows at speed just fine.
