I want to run 35 inch or 37 inch tires on my 01 screw 4x4 with 5.4 what gears should I go with a posi rear end. I'm running 285 70 17 tires on 17x9 wheels with no apparent problems now

I would get 4.56's for sure. Some will question whether or not it's fully necessary on 35's, but for 37's they absolutely are.

4.56's all the way... Those who say it is too much gear have obviously never driven one with a 35" tire and 4.56 gears. Perfect combo for me, driving and towing. I drove it with just the 3.73 gears for a couple years with no issues, but I had a little extra money and decided to go for it and I don't regret it one bit.

I'm running 4.10's with stock tires and it makes a huge improvement for towing and city driving. I had 3.55's stock and it was awful.

I'm not sure why they just don't have them geared with 4.88, 4.56, or 4.10 from the factory. It's a truck for cripes sake. Any lower and it's for cars to get better top end speed.

EPA gas mileage numbers and additional emissions certification.

Yup. Mileage. Heck, that's why the SFE-edition has 3.31 gears, that thing must be a dog. I have the 3.55LS, and I feel that it's fine when unloaded. When I get the flatbed or boat behind it, it could use some taller gears to help with acceleration, but it still tows at speed just fine.
