Thinking of entering a truck pull

Local county fair is having truck pulls during the fair. They have a stock gasoline class that I think I would qualify for. The only engine mod is an aftermarket intake which I don't really consider a mod to increase power and torque. I have 35 mud tires or a set of stock wheels. 5.4 engine. You guys think I would do well in a truck pull or just not waste my time? No idea what other types of trucks would be in a stock gasoline class other than stock rams, silverados, and other f150's?

The big question is can you afford to fix what ever breaks. Be it the transmission, rear end, blown motor?

Stupid is what stupid does.
Truck pulls are probably one of the quickest ways to break expensive parts.

I don't do them just for the abuse they can cause, but you would probly be better off with a set of aggresive stock size tires from a co-op or somewhere like fleetfarm on your stock rims. Those 35's are gonna kill your pwr/tq for the pull. In street classes I've seen far too many guys with nice trucks and big tires fall on there face because they just can't turn such a large tire with the load behind them. Factory size or sometimes even a little shorter will blow by someone elses shiny lifted truck most of the time.

I dunno, truck pulls are like mudding, but while trying to drag a full load behind you. It's a lot more stress on a rear/tranny than just plain mudding. I'd never subject any truck I cared about to a truck pull.

camopaint0707, that was a close call. You need to learn that if you are not at work, you need to be at home where you are safe. Do not have any fun and never risk damage to your vehicle. Sit at home and watch the professionals do it on TV.

Just stand on the sidelines, beer or ****tail in hand and watch others kick butt or break stuff. You know you'll still be having fun. Or roam craigslist for something cheap that you don't care much about to do it with. I have kicked around that idea.

Lol, I didn't know having fun meant having a high likelihood of destroying expensive parts on your truck?!! I guess I've never had any fun in my life. I better sign my truck up for the next demolition derby so I can start having some fun.
