I've only put 800 miles on mine since the first week in January. I used to put roughly 1000-1500 on it a month. Anymore I drive it mainly on the weekends depending on where I'm going. If it's just a few minutes away I take the car, if it's going to be a 30+minute drive I take the truck so it will have a chance to get up to operating temps.

I bought an 89 Festiva for going to work and running around town/short trips. It cost $250-300 a month in gas for the truck, it's costing roughly $80 a month in gas for the Festiva. I paid $800 for the car and my insurance actually went down $45. Overall maintenance is cheaper for the Festiva also. Plus it's not a car I really care about so I'm not going to buy the best parts for it, it's just a beater.

I do notice I'm saving money but that wasn't the WHOLE reasoning for buying the car. I'd rather put all the miles on it and keep the truck nice for longer. Plus the money I save will go towards new goodies for the truck.

Or worse... I just got rid of a 2010 Ranger. What a gas-a-holic!!! I save enough on gas to makeup the difference in truck payments.

Also no choice. drive the truck or the ATV...

I only put about 500 miles a year on my F-150, so gas could go to $10.00 per gallon and I still wouldn't drive it any differently than I do. All my day-in-and-day-out miles go on my '97 and '09 Rangers.....

Im on call through the work week (sun-fri) and drive my work truck home. I used to switch to my truck if I had a crap day just to get out of work mode sooner and feel normal. That doesnt happen as much at 4.09 a gallon.

Find I'm driving my '98 beater Subaru Outback more these days for running around town. Thing just won't die (189,000 miles on it) so I keep driving it.

HAHAHA....Only non-big3 car I ever owned. For 1,000 bucks, couldn't pass it up for a "backup vehicle". Sure is lots easier on gas than my '04 Laraiat 4x4.

I drive my work truck all week and they pay for my gas! I only drive my truck on weekends so my gas lasts a very long time!

I wish I had a fuel efficient vehicle to switch between. I have my truck that gets 12-14 mpg if I am luck and my lifted jeep that gets 6-8 at best...

Mines been sitting for the better part of two years now. Got a 92 Civic from my wifes Great Aunt. God bless her! It only had 42000 easy miles on it when I got it. I drive it to work and most of my running. Only run the pickup when I need to haul material, or other rec that requires it. I am definitely saving money even after paying the extra insurance and maintenance. 12 MPGs compared to 33 Drive 32 miles round trip to work daily which isnt bad but I live PA so it's all hills. They sure suck the gas out of the old SCREW.

First time posting in a longgg time. I also am suffering due to gas prices and WILL NOT get rid of my truck. I am however trying to keep it parked and not drive as much. I resorted to using this bike I purchased from my house down to the Metro Rail which is the miami version of a subway and get to work and school in this manner. I am easily saving over $200 a month. I ride the metro for free because am a vet and the metro is about 10 minutes on this bad boy. My job and school is located down town and the traffic I would catch on the highway was crazy. I now save from using my truck 4-5x a week. My mpg on this thing is amazing lol.

i'm hoping in finding a nice 96 f150 with the 5.0, my dad does more driving then me he has smaller tank on his 96, and last a week and half while i only last the week. roughly the same commuting distance. i don't know what to believe my mines at best gets 12.2 mpg mixed on one tank, and thats hand calculated

i really want the 96, it'll be my beater/ street rod truck and i really want to keep my green one mint, i don't see myself motivated to buy a newer f150 or trade mines in for anything in the market
