Starting to wonder about buying this truck....
So I got rid of my 2005 F150 back in September, 2011 for a cobalt. Missed it so much that we traded my fiance's neon in towards a 2007 F150. Same exact truck just two years newer and less miles. I am starting to think this wasn't such a good idea. I have had this 07 for a little over a month and tomorrow will be the third time back to the dealer for issues.
1. Grinding noise heard when in 4wd. No problem was found, but they did replace the IWE solenoid.
2. Hard steering was felt, and wanted the 4wd checked again. They replaced the lower steering shaft...fixed. Still say no problems with 4wd.
3. Now I have been getting a burning brake smell. Today driving down the highway the truck didn't want to go without being on the gas. It would slow down immediately after letting of the gas. I could hear a humming noise but when I stopped no hot wheels or burning brake smell...this time??
I'm kind of irritated that I purchased a more expensive truck, two years newer, less mileage than my 05 and it is having these issues. Only issues my 05 had in the 4 years I owned it was misfiring. Change of plugs, coils and a warrantied fuel injector fixed that. Tired of making the long trips to the dealer to and burning up gas back and forth. I hope more and more things don't start piling up with this truck. I was thinking about buying a Dodge Ram instead of another F150. Wondering if I should have....

A dodge?! I hate to even admit it but I'd rather buy a chevy, toyota, nissan in that order before I even TEST DROVE a dodge! Why do you think dodge came out with their 100,000 mile warranty gimmick? Because they're the only company who needs it! But in all seriousness I'm sorry to hear about your problems and I hope they get worked out man. I keep thinking one day I'll trade up to a newer less miles f150 but I know how mine has been taken care of and has given me no problems.

Took it to the dealership today to get checked out tomorrow. They were giving me a "jokingly" hard time about being there so much. The shop foreman is going to drive it home for the night to see what he can find. I said hey, I just bought this thing...I want it to work. I paid almost $22k for this thing. Damn right I am bringing if something is a miss.

My advice, keep what you have. Nothing about this truck can replace my 05. I hate that I was stupid and got rid of it. I miss it so much

dealer where a few years back I bought a used Cad. CTS. An 08 Lariat 4X4 with
38 thou. for 28 thou and some dollars. They said on their site it was a no haggle
price which according to NADA was 260 over retail so I haven't pursued it any
further. I bought mine used, and I'm thinking twice about giving up 183 a month payments.
Wonder if the truck had the brake booster mod and they got the brakes to tight. OP when you touch the brakes to stop does it start to stop immediately or do you have about an inch of pedal push before it starts to slow?
The brake pedal feels immediate. Doesn't feel any different than my other truck did.
I have fixed a few rear paring brakes on these trucks that drag. There is an actuator lever on the cable that pushes on the shoes. When the truckes get a safety inspection, they test the brake and they can stick on.
Test by feeling for excess heat at each rim after a test drive. Not a huge deal, doesnt mean truck is a lemon.

That burning smell is probably you caliper...my left rear sezied up on me last year.....I am sorry to hear you are having problems with this truck....but remember thats part of buying a used truck man. These trucks are really really good vehicles.....when I bought mine, there was so much **** that needed to be done and wasn't.....I have been replacing all the wear and tear and all the stuff that was obviously "abused" due to previous owner...but I expected it because it was a used truck...you never know...my truck rides like its brand new now and wouldn't trade it for anything....
