Don't waste your money. Do a proper retrofit. You will get less light out put than your stock bulbs.

^^^ X3 Save your pennies and do it right with a retro fit with projectors. There are rumors on here that the Feds are going to start cracking down on the "Plug & Play" kits anyway (finally !!)

1st off, its your truck so do what you want but i would highly suggest 35w if anything since 55w produces too much glare to manage. 2nd, go with the bi-xenon kit which is hid high and low. with bi-xenon bulbs a magnet pulls the bulb back to "mimic" a high beam.

hid bulbs in stock reflector housings are already positioned in the high beam positioned, thus producing glare. people will tell you that you see less but in reality, it's just a front to recommend retro fits which you really should consider as it is the only way to properly put hid lighting onto your truck. yes statistically your suppose to see less with plug and play hid kits, but anybody that runs them knows it's lie because you will see a lot better when you keep the bulb temperature in the 4300k-6000k range.

if i where you and looking for cheap hids, i would find a 35w bi-xenon 5000k kit with a harness which will be a must to operate the high beams on bi-xenon bulbs.

So much misinformation it's not even funny. Don't put HID's in your reflector housings unless you like being a douchebag. It causes intense glare and blinds oncoming drivers. Period. Aiming your headlights down does next to nothing because the glare is caused by the bulb position and the housing not focusing the light properly. You DO NOT get the same visibility as halogens because the light with HID's is unfocused and splotchy. Do a retrofit or don't do HID's at all. The people who insist on doing so are nothing more than a bunch of high school ricer fanboys.

Good lord, the price for the retrofit is crazy, Has anyone bought any of those that are on ebay, I see them for about 150.00 or a little more. I'm not going to pay 300-400 for some.

i bought a DDM kit about 3 years ago and it is still running strong. I got the 35w 8000k Hi/Low kit. I will never go back to stock bulbs. You can see so much more. My kit cost somewhere between $100 and $140, i dont really remember. I have only gotten flashed twice, so just aim your lights down and you should be fine.

That's cost of doing it correctly. The projectors and other equipment ain't cheap. If you pay somone else to do the retrofit for you it's gonna run $800+.

Not trying to be mean here, but that's a far stretch. Put your stock bulbs in for a little while and see the difference.

This is basically what I was trying to get at...

Maybe raptor will see this and he can go into more detail??

You can get the Bi-xenon Morimoto Mini Stage III Kit (H1) on http://www.theretrofitsource.com (a great dealer here) for 270. That isn't much more than the 150 its going to cost you to do it the wrong way.

Don't put PnP kit in your truck. I had a kit in my truck for a little while. Thought it was cool, untill i started noticing other people with them. I thought they were so bright and obnoxious. Then I realized that my lights did the same thing. So they came out... When I put the stock bulbs back in, I realized how bad the light output of HID's were. You can see much better with stock because the light is focused. With an HID bulb the light is just scattered around.

If they do start cracking down on the P&P kits, A proper retro-fit will probably be cheaper than a citation from the Feds... You can buy the parts separately from "The Retrofit Source" "TRS" and do it yourself. It's not really that hard to do, they do have instructions to help. I'm sure you could get plenty of help on here and I know there are members here with extra relays and wiring that you could get for cheap....last word, If you are going to go HID's...do it right. It could be my family or yours that you will be blinding on the highway at night.

I would love for someone with a lightmeter to do an experiment with HIDs in the stock housings, halogens in the stock housings, then HID's in the projector retrofit to prove the point.
