2008 F-150 Front End Noise

My F-150 seems to have a loud "road noise" when driving straight or turning the wheel to the left. If I turn the wheel to the right, if smooths out. I have had it aligned and replaced the front tires. My mechanics at work jacked it up and looked for play in the front wheel bearings, but found none.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

I'd say either a tire or a bearing.. Just because a wheel bearing doesn't have any freeplay doesn't mean that it's not bad.

i had a noise in my drivers side front area when I turned sharp. Jacked it up and found no play in the bushings etc but when i turned the wheel I could here the bearing cracking. faintly. When its under load is when you hear the real noises. replaced mine and no more noises.

Good chance its a wheel bearing since the noise goes away when turning right. As they said no freeplay dosent always mean your bearing is good or quiet. If you can jack it up again and look right at the outer edge of the wheel bearing from the the inside of your wheel, look for any differences in the gap all the way around the bearing or rust and flaking rust in or around the edge. Spin it around and listen for any noise. If its making much noise at all it will be a lot louder out on the road with the vehicles weight putting pressure on it.

2wd = bearing in rotor... you'll either have to do the centric conversion or replace the entire rotor assembly

that is not true anymore. I bought the timkin bearing at autozone for 55.00 and pressed it into my rotor no problem.

It can be done, but for the amount of time bearings fail (which doesn't seem often from what I read) it's just piece of mind to replace the unit

the entire sealed bearing unit can be pressed in and out in 5 minutes. Why spend over 200 bucks for a 55 dollar bearing?

What other piece of mind do you get by replacing the rotor essembly if there is nothing wrong with the one you got?
