Can't decide.. 4" or 6" RCX lift
Well I'm really wanting to get a lift on. I already have 315/60/20" Toyo m/ts on some stock 20s with 1.5" adapters. I really think 5" is the ideal height for me. It wouldn't be so high that I or my family would have trouble getting in it, and it wouldn't make my tires look terribly small. I already have billstein 5100 leveling shocks, so I could add 1" to a 4" lift. My main reason though for adding a lift was to get back to stock angles and avoid my cv boots ripping again(has happened twice).
So my question for you all is what would you do? If I bumped I bump it up to a 5" with my billsteins I would need to spend another 75 on a lift shackle which would make it the same price as a 6" lift.
I don't really plan on ever running 37" tires. Too much stress on the Ifs and would possibly need new driveshafts, gears, ect. Too much money for me to justify.
So what's the better option, bumping a 4" to 5", or getting a 6" and leaving it stock.
Another idea I've had is getting the 6" and putting a 3" leveling kit on coupled with my billsteins set at 2". Basically making a 6" a five inch lift. Would this be the same as a stock 4x4 lowered one inch in the front? Would this cause any unforeseen problems? This would be the best way of doing this I feel. Plus I already have a 3" kit so it wouldn't be anymore money.
Thanks!

Just do the 6" and leave it alone. If you've already had trouble with leveling kits, then get away from using them. And why would you lower a truck 1" after installing a 6" lift? Your just asking for trouble. BTW rancho makes a 4" kit that will clear 35's on stock wheels and it is designed to work with the back spacing of the factory wheels. I plan on switching to a rancho 4" as soon as I get the coin, I think 35's with a 3" leveling kit looks to stuffed.
The rancho is kinda out of my price range. I just feel like 5" of lift is perfect. I really dont want it to be huge, but rather just enough to get rid of my occasional rub and bad angles. Since I already have the Billstein shocks I was leaning towards a cheaper 4" lift like the RCX.
If you are going to go 6" I would go with fabtech or Procomp. The RCX 6" lift is nice but it comes with strut spacers instead of new struts or springs to get the added height. The 4" I don't mind it using spacers but if I was going to add 6" it would have to have either new struts or new springs to get the added height.
I am about to do a 4" RCX lift on my baby. The 6" is too much for me as I have some young kids and I use my truck for work and climb in and out of my bed several times a day usually.

You can go straight to Rough Country and buy it. I have not seen it cheaper anywhere else and was running at just under $1,300. I would also add the kicker braces in for another $90.

Those aft support braces should be standard in this kit. Every other suspension lift includes these braces and they will provide support to the rear cross member especially since it is not directly tied to the front cross member. A one piece cross member plus rear aft braces are the reasons why I like the Rancho lift over the RCX kit. If going with the RCX kit, get those aft supports...
Yeah i for sure would get the aft braces. Never thought about not getting them. I can get the rcx 4" with the aft braces for 1360 from a local store shipped to me for that.
I am just lost as to whether or not get the 6" and never bump it up or get a 4" bumped to 5". If the angles would be that bad or not.
As of right now I only have a 2.5" leveling kit and have replaced the cv axle twice which is my reason for getting one.

And stovetop your truck looks just like a 6" which I know ranchos are a little higher than most from the factory. But I wonder if a rcx 4" would be similar or not?
I like the fact that the Rancho's kit comes with the braces included and that the cross members are connected but am turned away by the fact you have to get the shocks separately. I guess every kit is a bit different in one way or another so you have to find what you like and move with it.
I have the rancho kit and love it...also got the 9000 shocks. I just need to get new tires now lol. As for price I was able to find the kit for 1400 online. Got it local for 1450. They might also still have the rebate deal going. I got 500$ back with buying the kit and 9000 shocks.
1400 was not with the shocks. Just the kit. I forget how much the schocks run but if you get the lift kit and 9000 stocks I think be fore the end of month you get 500$ rebate.
Here was the 1400 i found...but when I was looking both the black and red kits were 1400...now it seems the black is more. I would call.

For the shocks the best price I had was autoanything.com...they were taking 15% off the price when I called to try to get my business. They are advertising 10% off on there site but the guy told me on the phone he could do better at 15%. I forget the cost but what I was going to do is have them rice match the 1400 from the link above and get the shocks from them. I found all I wanted local for not too much more and could get it installed asap so I went that route. If you can get the 500 rebate I think it almost covers the shocks.
EDIT: rockauto.com has the black for 1389!!! I cant link it but look under 2005 ford f150 fx4 suspension and lifts. Make autoanything price match and see if you can swindle free shipping.
