Been awhile since I've been on...

I'm moving from the sunshine state to tennessee. I won't have a shop that I can use up there like I do here. My little old pickup has 150k miles and still runs like a champ. I was trying to come up with some things I shoul do before I leave.

I'm thinking:
Brakes all the way around
Monroe quick struts up front
An allignment
Radiator flush
I think that's it.

I have already done plugs, cops, and cleaned the maf.

Anything else before I make the 800 mile trip?

How long since tranny fluid changed and fuel filter changed? Has the throttle body been cleaned?

 

800 miles shouldnt be a big deal. I drive that much in two weeks and dont do anything except routine maintenance to my truck when needed.

You can check the brakes but it doesnt necessarily need them all the way around.

 

Ever change the differential fluid? If not, I bet it's pretty nasty in there.

 

I think he is more concerned about getting things done while he has a shop rather than the trip.

 

I'd do it all, plugs, air filter, oil, coolant, transmission fluid and rear end fluid...


where in TN are you moving to???

 

hes done his plugs already, and yes hes trying to get everything straight before beginning to sift through the shops in his new area to find a good one.

id do both diff fluids
trans filter and the 5 quarts it requires
struts/shocks
radiator flush with new motocraft coolant

brakes are easy enough any shop should be able to handle that task, i wouldnt worry too much about them

 

Tranny rebilt 20k miles ago.

Never messed with the difs, I will add that to the list. Did the fuel filter prob 20k ago too, so I will add that on there. Thank you.

I'm moving to brentwood tn. I am going to work for the corp. Side of the busness. Its a trucking company/brokerage. The trck terminal is located here in florida... so I have a full shop whenever I need it.we just have an office up there.

 

Edit: did the throttle body at the same time as the fuel filter... That was a pain in the ***. I would rather change the plugs anyday.

 

I would rather do the brakes myself... lot cheaper. My rotors are groovved likehell. I put pads on about 50k miles ago but the damage was done. Plus the front wants are a tad warped.

I gotta add... I'm on my cell phon so typing is a bit tricky.

This puts me at $563 to my door. i would still need brakes, coolant, and a gew other small things. what do you think.

 

If I were you I'd do all this and the brakes now before you leave since it'd be easier to do them in a garage. The coolant, tranny fluid, and differential fluid can in the driveway at the new house if needed.

 

I have a family friend who works for ford. He gives me great deals. i was going to let them do the coolant, and diffs.

I am going to leave the tranny alone, it was rebuilt not too long ago.

puts me at 908.72. am i doing to much for a truck that has 150kmiles. i have no plans on getting rid of it. But is it worth it?

 

If you don't plan on getting rid of it and it's running good I'd say it's worth it. I'd do it to my truck.

 

Very well worth it if you plan to keep it. It will hit 200k no problems. Especially with all of those replacement parts.
