Yeah, my filter change required 5.5 quarts to put me back at the same spot on the dipstick.

BTW, I also ordered a trans filter too since I'm in there anyway I will change it also.

For someone that knows...How do they come off??

It looks like it just pulls off to me but I don't want to F' anything up in there.

Order should ship tomorrow and be here by Friday!

Just pull it straight down. It's held in by the seal on the filter neck. And another tip Harbor Freight has a hand transfer pull with a hose that fits down the dipstick tube. It's slow but beats having to unbolt all but 1 side of the pan and let 5 quarts of fluid run out.

I used this pump last time as well and it worked well. The only issue is I could only get about 4 quarts out. I'm about 3,000 miles from doing this again and I thought I'd jack up the truck on the drivers side to see if I could suck out a little more. The pump definitely makes it a less messy job.

Well I dropped the pan last night thinking that the new pan and filter was going to show up UPS today...well the filter did but not the pan. Just got another tracking # today and won't get the pan until Wednesday of next week.

So now my truck sits in the garage with the pan dropped until at least Wednesday I guess that's what I get for getting anxious and dropping the pan a day early.

But when I did, it was not too bad. I got a nice big piece of card board and laid it down. Started losing the bolts going every other one and then and little off of each until it starting dipping like a mother but I caught most of it in two oil pans and just a little on the card. Not even one drop got on the floor! I was shocked myself

Hey Blackjack, how did you find that OEM part #(w/plug)? All I could find was the non-plug part.

Nevermind-After searching your part# I got all the info I needed. A better plan than a high dollar alluminum pan for sure. It would appear that this pan will fit the 4R70E also.

Nice! I would have done the same but I don't have a welder. So an OEM one works for me
