tire reccomendations. mud sand snow 50k+.
ive been reading up on tires and the time is closing in
truck will see snow, sand, and occasional mud. im not worried about road noise too much, nothing crazy loud, but a mud tire noise is fine for me. i dont want any part of any tire that wont last me close to 50k, mainly because of cost
i was set on bfg at ko's but im willing to try anything. if you guys know of a good mud tire that i can get 50k out of (with good rotation practices) please let me know.
im open to anything, the jeep guys use different kinds of tires and such, and im interested to hear what people like.
id really like to do a mud tire for looks, but i cant bring myself to buying something that will last 30 of 40k. if there are no mud tires that will last more than that, then start talking at tires and what you guys like.
thanks all.

Toyo MT, lasted me just over 55k (very near 60K). Never let me down in the snow, ice or muck. I cannot comment on sand usage, we mostly have a nasty clay loam soil here with instances of sand. Just replaced one set of toys with another set. I prefer the aggressive tread pattern of the toyos, but the trail graps have a somewhat more aggressive sidewall (if looks are what you want). There is a reason so many people run Toyos
I'd rank them like this from my experiences and a rough guesstimate of prices (assuming 20" rims):
MT's:
Toyo MT's (good on road life, decent off road) $$$$
Nitto Trail Grap's (good on road life, less aggressive tread, decent off road) $$$$
BFG KM2's (good tread life, not really overly aggressive looking, great off road) $$$
Nitto Mud Grap's (terrible tread life, very aggressive design, excellent off road) $$
AT's:
BFG AT/KO (very good tread life 60K+ in some instances, decent off road) $$$$
General Grabber (decent tread life and decent off road) One member here has the Grabbers, other than that you would have to explore the raptor forums. $$$

They are the same in most respects as the Nittos since Nitto is owned by Toyo.
they look like cooper sst's to me.
anyone got those and know how long they lasted you? also interested in knowing how long km2s will last.
if no one else gets 50k+ its gonna be between open country mts and bfg at's

The best person to ask about real world experience with the KM2's is Msall, if i remember right he has had those for a while. It is my understanding that they are an all around excellent tire.
Edit: I also see you have the lariat 18's so most all those tires will be much more affordable in price compared to a 20" rim.

I would have to go with BFG TA KO's.
Its an all-Terrain, but they last FFFFOOOOOORRRREEEEEVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRR!! lol.
I got 61k out of my last set. They loose their mud capabilities at about 55k. But you are able to run them for a little while after.
Now that being said, I rotated EVERY 5k. and had my alignment checked 2 times a year. And I ran them at 37 PSI. I had the 10ply set. (I work at a tire shop, so the alignment checks and rotations were free! lol.)

how did they do in mud for an at tire. any experience with sand and snow
The snow was a breeze. It had very good traction on "unpacked" snow.(Ie, drifts and non graded roads) Now for packed snow and Ice, it was just like every other tire.
They preformed VERY well in the mud for just an AT. I couldn't put an MT on my truck after having these. Once the tires on my new truck wear down, that is what I will be getting.
My Toyo MT's are great in mud, rain and good in deep snow....Plowed snow they are worse than the Pirelli's the truck had on it when I bought it used.
My tires being wide (305/55/20) obviously don't help with snow traction. Under straight conditions they are fine, turning and slight hills with plowed roads I find myself slipping and using 4x4 a lot more than I should have to.
Road noise is great with the Toyo's, noticeable but nothing you can't live with. MPG will drop 1-2 MPG with the weight of the tires depending on the size you get.
My next set will either be Toyo MT's again or some Goodyear Duratrac's. I'm leaning more towards the Duratracs right now as they look more like an MT but handle like an AT and are snow rated. My buddy has them and loves them for occasional mud and work like a dream in snow.

go to youtube and type in DarrenWS6. He has a bunch of videos with his Toyos running down the road with his windows down etc. Also some snow videos and you will see what I am talking about with snow traction.
