MODs/Fuel ?'s

I no mods on my 2006 screw.
I would like to do what ever mods that will help w/gas mileage.
My dash display shows I'm getting anywhere from 7.8 - 10 mpg.
I can't imagine that is correct…

I was thinking maybe a Gryphon, new exhaust, and CAI.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

well try and calculate your own mpg to try and get a better reading. A tonneau cover, programmer, new air filter or full intake can all help. Check out some hypermilling techniques if you can. Brake as little as possible. Also some LLR tires would help.

you won't, i didn't say they were dramatic fuel increase mods but they are just about all you can do in terms of modifications. You can probably pick up 5 mpg better just by changing your driving habits. I can get 50mpg and 500 miles to a tank in my 95 integra and its mostly just from how I drive.

You should start with cleaning/changing what you have..

Change your fuel filter, oil.. Clean your Throttle Body, MAF, Air Filter.

Check your tire pressure..

Once you get all that done, then look into a programmer/CAI.. Might as well start with the cheaper stuff first. You can clean your Throttle Body & MAF & Air Filter for ~ $15

Same as above. Set your tire pressure 2 psi above door seal recommended spec. It may ride slightly firmer but it will help with your mileage. What is your odo mileage? Are you running 5W20 oil? It may also be time for plugs and a transmission service.

Maybe you could try the Gotts Mod First? It's only like $20 and it's close to a CAI. But add a drop in Air Filter with it? Like K&N or AFE? I have a K&N drop in, it was there when I bought the truck. But I wish there was a dry flow there.

That you be easy.
Then maybe a programmer?
Or Taunna Cover?
Watch your driving style.

A CAI and/or a dropin air filter won't do squat for you. The Gotts/DWV mod and a good paper filter is the way to go.

Yeah, I usually increase my tire PSI a bit but it's really all about driving style No hard launches, keeping speeds/RPMs down, using cruise control when possible, etc. I have three temp and the AveMPG PIDs displayed on my EDGE and when I drive conservatively, I see my MPGs go up and all my temps (especially tranny temp) go down...go figure.

Keep tires properly inflated. Replace the fuel/air/oil filters. Spark plug change if needed. Keep rpm's below 2K at all times if possible. That about covers it for fuel savings. Programmers/tonneau covers/etc may improve mpg's slightly, but you won't recoup the cost of them in anything short of 3+ years.

I do have a Pace-Edwards Bed Locker.
My mileage is 41k
I just changed the oil in November and only have 2100 miles on it. And it is 5w20.

I only live 2 miles from where I work.
I’m a volunteer Firefighter and live a mile from the station. So the truck never gets a chance to really warm up.

I think what really kills me is that almost all my driving is city.
I don’t need to get on the highway to go anywhere so it’s all stop & go at lights thru the cities.
The only time I truly am heavy on the pedal is when I’m going to a fire call.

Thanks everyone!

Even with 41k I'd still get your MAF and TB cleaned.

Your oil should still be good.. When was the last time you changed your fuel filter. I do mine every 10k.

But your right, all the short trips and stop and go are your worst problem. I live about a mile away from the post office, and I basically drive there 3-4 times a week to drop off orders. So i feel ya. But I drive further on the weekends so I avg about 11.5-12

if you live that close and its all in the city you could try public transport or riding a bike if the gas is really that bad
