I've always liked your retrofit job, so much that I actually based mine off of them. They probably won't even look close to as good as yours, but I'm trying! Hope you don't mind!

If you have aiming problems, give me a shout. Good news is I've perfected a method that will give you a 100% true straight line. The bad news is you have to remove the projector to gain access to do it.

That would be awesome! As soon as I get these things painted I'll try to aim them and let you know. Unfortunately, I just ran into a problem... As I was taking out one of the headlight bowls to be painted, I broke one of the black clips. I have no idea what to do now...

I think the black piece is a 2 piece clip? If so are both sides broken, or just one side. If just one side broke off I would just use a fast curing glue (loctight)(epoxy) and glue it back on. Then once the bowl is installed fill the clip and bowl with more glue on the unseen side of the bowl.

Hi powerz69.
In your post you suggest to use the Permatex ultra black rtv silicone.
This product is a gasket maker, as for the Permatex Black silicone is an adhesive sealant.

Do you think there is a real difference besides the temperature rating on the rtv?

I'd use the RTV....specifically around the projector itself. When aiming them (front clear housing off) you realize how hot they get.

Thats what i have heard to use or butyl or somthing like that. I have also heard to try to stay away from silicone. It will cause moisture in the headlight leaving marks on the inside of the clear lens when it dries.

Use 3M butyl adhesive. Best product by far for sealing the lights back up. I used silicone and got condensation, switched to 3M and everything is perfect. For use on the projector, use epoxy with a high temp rating.

If you are trying to do a retrofit with these let me tell you now, It won't work, Trust me, I tried on a set for my 99. I had to trim away so much of the mounting tab thingy that when I tried to test install it the thing broke right off.

I was trying to make these work, Unfortunately like i said above it didn't. Would have definately been one of a kind if my plans had worked out.

This may work for a retrofit but I don't know.

Just kind of curious but what type of donor cars are out there to get a set FX-R projectors out of? I have a couple of buddies that work in body shops. Maybe I could get lucky and get a set out of a wreck

FX-R projectors are built special for retrofiting, they are not stock in any vehicle.
