Shutting Off Annoying Features

Hello All,

I have a 2008 F150 SCrew XLT.

There are two features that find highly annoying.

1) The automatic door locks - As in all the doors lock every time you start the truck.

2) The seatbelt dinger. - When I'm up north on my property I don't want to wear my seat belt. I also don't want to just plug in the seat belt behind me because hit hits me in the side.

Can these features be turned off on a 2008?

Thanks

Tom

Have you looked in your manual? The procedure for turning off the seat belt chime is in there.

Why don't you just wear your seatbelt, it's not like it's really uncomfortable to have on or takes all that long to engage and disengage?

Also, why does the auto door lock bother you, just curious? I don't think mine locks until I put it in drive and go over 10 MPH or something like that.

Because when I'm on my property I'm getting in and out of my truck often. So I don't want to deal with a belt. Also there are no other cars etc... to deal with. It's a two track in the middle of no where.

Why do the door locks bother me. I guess they wouldn't if they'd all unlock when I shut the truck off. If I have groceries in the back and I get out to get them I have to go back open the driver door and unlock the truck. Or find the fob etc....

I'll look in the manual to shut the seat belt dinger off.

Anyone know if the auto door locks can be shut off?

Thanks

Tom

I shut them both off in my truck. Give me a minute and I'll check in the manual to find the page #s.

Or just hit the 'unlock' button on the armrest of the door as you exit the truck. I believe you can open the drivers side door from the inside even when it's locked.

I'd check the manual about the auto locks, I'd imagine there's a way, somehow, to change that. You could have an alarm system installed, those can override how the lock/unlock usually work. For example, when I got mine installed, I only have to hit the unlock button once to unlock all the doors.

Door locks - pgs 144,145
Seat belt - pgs 180,181
Follow the sequences carefully, it will probably take a couple tries because every step has to be done within so many seconds.

Yup, both items can be turned off and instructions are in your manual as the others have stated. I have turned both off in my 06 although I am a faithful seatbelt wearer. 1 good head on collision is all it took to make be a believer out of me.

It blows my mind that some people still won't/don't use seat belts. Unless you're Orca fat, they're not uncomfortable and they take almost no time to use. Even when I drive 50' from my house to the mail box I'll put on my seatbelt, it's just a good habit.

You never know when your truck might have unintended contact with something.

Couldn't agree with you more !! I am a big guy ! 250 lbs and I don't find wearing my seatbelt to be uncomfortable at all. My big accident was in "2000" when my "97" slammed head on with a Geo Tracker (her fault) After that I found wearing my seatbelt was a very easy habit to get into. Now it is just 2nd nature and I put it on without even thinking twice about it.
Meeting an airbag Face to Face was a wake up call for me.

That's only if I'm driving out somewhere, or coming back. Yes, I'll re-buckle my seat belt to go from the mailbox to the house too.

Usually I'll take the dog with me and just walk!

That item CAN NOT be turned off. You will have to get another sensor setup for an extra set of wheels. It is a federally mandated safety item on most all vehicles now.

If your truck is an 05 like your profile says then you don't have the tpms on it, they did not start until the 07 model year.
