Who said V8's can't sip Fuel?

So Far, been averaging about 18-19mpg in my 04 5.4 2wd. I love the mileage right now. Seems like the truck will pull low to mid 20s for straight highway. Anyone else seeing numbers like this in mixed driving? I am 87 tuned, hi flow cats, 14" maggie si/do and DWV intake with K&N drop-in. I'll be switching to 93 later this summer for some added power and mileage hopefully. Wouldn't mind an extra bit more growl from my exhaust too

and thats completely stock with the exception of the 1.5 AS....

The last road trip I took I had the best mileage ever, 18.25 MPG. That's on an '06 Screw FX4 with factory 20's running the canned PHP 93 tune. I can't wait till I get home to try my custom 93.

Is this penciled out or do you have a Lariat or a Scan Gauge? I use a Scan Gauge II and can see 20+(VERY small plus) on the freeway at 70 but that is with ideal conditions (flat, egg between my foot and pedal, etc.) We won't even talk about around town! Love the truck, but this is not an all-around mileage queen. '04 XLT W/5.4 and 3.73 and 18 FX2 wheels and tires in place of the original 17's. No performance mods.

I average 16 to 16.5 year around 80% City 20% hwy. 06 FX4 SCrew, Edge on #2, MBRP Cat back SI/SO.

Hwy trips at 70-72mph I get up around 18mpg.

I can live with that for a 4 wheel drive heavy *** truck.

Mileage

I've gotten 20 mpg highway out of my 97 4.6L, Scab before. My 07 will get 18-19 mpg hwy (around 2K rpm) and around 15 mpg in town though harder to do: Scab, long bed, heavy half with 4.10 rear. Both are 2wd. Both are bone stock except for alloy wheels on the 07 otherwise pretty much as purchased. I've wondered how a Gear Vendor Overdrive might work out on the 07, just a thought at this time.

I just find it stupid to tune for 93 on a pickup. Sure you may get some HP but only be able to tell on a dyno and possibly .8 MPG increase. But the advantages will be lost in extra cost of fuel

I had my 2003 GT tuned to 93 and I noticed a bit of difference in throttle response but other than that you couldnt notice much it got up an went a bit quick but thats because it also tuned the timing in it too.

But thats a mustang and this is a truck.

My opinion tho.
