Official what did you do to your truck today thread.
I ordered a Deltran Battery Tender Plus for it earlier in the week ( $44.18 on eBay via seller 2x_power ). Great deal, and received it yesterday and connected it. It is charging the truck happily in my cold concealed garage. Very happy. Now I don't need to pull the battery to save it and lug it inside, and my mileage counter/mpg won't be reset every time. Also all of the dead battery conditions I have had all year long. I see a Battery purchase in my future regardless but I do believe this will salvage it longer.
Got my brand new bed rug to replace my old one that broke. The zippers disintegrated and after contacting bed rug they sent me a new one free of charge.!!!
Had to send the other one back. Awesome customer service.
Going to wait to install till we have good weather!

My DD car decided to puke it's water pump and lost all coolant, so i'm driving the truck daily as of now. I did a bulk order on Rock Auto for my DD, picked up an IWE for the truck as it needed a front right one. I changed it out today following FordTechMakuloco's video on YouTube. I couldn't believe what I pulled out, the gear ring separated from the actuator itself. Took it for a test drive, and replacing this with a new one resolved my 4wd snapping issue, steering wheel shake at higher speed, and clump sound on inclined angles. Glad I got this out of the way. Time for an alignment.

had the same thing happen to mine darren! separated and made all kinds of racket and fixed a clunk noise i had going on.
i pulled the transfer case this weekend and replaced the transfer case input shaft seal. my t-case was filling up with fluid slowly and draining the transmission slowly. not too bad of a job. getting the t-case skid plate and driveshafts down were cake, as was unhooking the actuator and vent tube. the 6 bolts that hold the transfer case to the transmission were a pain. there are 6, and the top two are miserable. i had just enough room to get a deep 13 mil socket on them, and i could only get one click out of the ratchet at a time (they are long bolts too) putting those two bolts in and out was the bulk of the time involved. also replaced the rear output shaft seal while i had it on the floor, and the front out put shaft seal looks like youd have to split the t-case to change it so i left it alone. going to wait a week and pull the tcase fill plug to see if that fixed it. there is no transmission output shaft seal, for whoever is interested. not a bad job really.

still pretty cold out
Stopped at the local auto parts store looking for friction modifier for rear diff. The cute girl working there had the "deer in the headlights look" when I told her what I was looking for. Found some no name brand stuff for 10 bucks, so I decided to go to the boys at Ford. Got the proper additive for 6.99 out the door, pulled 4 oz. of 75-140 out of diff. that I put in when I bought the truck last Sept., then added the friction modifier from the dealer. Heated up the bottle with scalding hot water in the house so it went in really quickly(18 degrees outside this morning). Took it for a ride after, and noticed it is a little quieter, still getting a bit of a shudder in the truck when making a hard turn from dead stop, but keep reading that this is normal for the limited slip diff. Conditioned the leather seats too. Quick tip for those of you with the bucket seats and console shifter, the orange tab inside the indicator window had faded over time on mine. I took it apart and found the orange had faded off the top part of the little tab, so when it is locked into any gear, the faded portion shows in the indicator window. I wanted it to still be translucent at night, so orange electrical tape was out. I had an epiphany, and used a day-glow orange tab from 3-M, the kind you use to mark documents for signatures and such. It folded right on, and light transfers through it, so it works at night too. Something stupid I know,
but I checked at Ford for the replacement indicator and found out that you have to order the entire slider piece, take apart the shift **** without breaking it, all for over 140 bucks- probably to only have it fade out again. I got the whole pack of tabs for 2 bucks, so if it lasts a while- great- if not, I'll just stick a new tab in later. Love this truck!! 2006 F 150 supercab Lariat 4x4.
