From the chatter on one of the LEO Forums, Wade is one of the good guys, and hopefully he can learn from this and move forward in a positive way.

P.S. you are one ugly SOB my friend, and you have a lot of support from your fellow Deputies on PCSO from what I am reading

Sorry to hear about your troubles...I cannot imagine the stress you must be under. Good luck with work, that's your future. You can always buy another truck. Did you ask your buddy why he grabbed the wheel? My cousin was in the exact same situation but he was the designated driver. His drunk passenger grabbed the wheel and...well...he didn't make it. My cousin was banged up pretty bad but still cannot explain why his buddy grabbed the wheel (he was extremely drunk, so that may be explanation enough).

Again, I wish you the best of luck going forward.

Exactly, when you were released, you and I would have done much more then 8 hours in jail for the same thing.

Curious, is there a record to go along with this? Like you or I would have?

I've already said this but it's worth repeating. It makes the news because being in a position of authority, your supposed to set the example and show better judgment then this. Is that going to be a paid suspension?
Wrong a DUI is not a DWI. You would be released as soon as you made bail/talked to the judge. Hell you dont even have to be actually arrested. You will be taken in and your car will be impounded, but arrest is not guarranteed. I have 2 friends that received DUI's and were not ever booked, but had to be picked up from the PD. But a DWI, usually you are out within a few hours. Just have a lot more trouble to deal with.

Sorry to hear about your situation. My friends laugh at me when I'm going to the bars and I won't even have one drink. They say nothing will happen but I still never have that one drink if I'm going to be the one driving. For a couple reasons I've had cops pulling me over for reasons that are unnecessary or no reason at all. I got pulled over one night drinking to get Mcdonalds at 2 am for my front window decal beind 1 inch over the max. Not can you really tell at 2 am that it was oversized and he was going through my truck like you wouldn't believe trying to find something on me. Never did. Pulled over for going 5 over and a highway when I was on the way to the ER which he gave me a ticket for. My throat was swallon so much I could barely swallow. I'm not a big fan of cops around here they all like to over extend their authority.

So with this said I don't chance even having one drink at the bar for chancing getting a DUI, DWI, or a car crash that might not even being my fault and getting myself to blame for that one drink I had.

Hope all goes well for you. You Live you learn you fall now it's time to get up and keep moving.

That's how it works where you live, not so where I live.

Let me guess you have never smoked pot in your life...... but instead, are basing your decisions on here say ?

Oh, and for the record, I don't condone the use of pot either. It's just a simple fact of the matter, that it is less dangerous than alcohol. Only people who have not actually smoked pot themselves, would tell you otherwise. (Typically speaking anyway. Their will always be the guy who says otherwise, just to be argumentative).

.
Allow me to share my personal experience with a driver that was high on pot.

Christmas Eve. 1976. I was 6 years old. Simply coming home from my grandmothers house after a Christmas Eve get together. My aunt, 3 year old baby brother, and mother were in the front seat.
Another aunt, my 8 year old brother, and me were in the back seat.

Some worthless piece of crap high on pot ran a stop light, T-boning the car my family was in, nearly killing my youngest brother. He managed to survive against all odds, but is now, and will forever have physical and mental impairments.

Don't try to tell me that being under the influence of pot is any less dangerous than being under the influence of alcohol.

As a police officer that got into law enforcement due to my father being a drunk till I was 15, I do not drink, nor have I ever tried it. I am too scared I would like it! my family tend to be violent when drunk.
I am happy to hear that you are ok and everyone made it but honestly, I dont think you deserve the right to be in law enforcement, you would think that with it being called "law enforcement" you could maby abide by it. I know some people will say, well you get out of speeding tickets in your personal vehicle when you get stopped, yes I do, but I am never going more than 15 over, so I wont cite someone or even stop them unless they are going 15 over. If you break the law you shouldnt enforce it.
Your family now has to explain to there friends, co-workers what happened and from experience when someone asks, how did your dad wreck his truck, it sux to half to say, he was drunk. the bigest problem is most people that wreck from dui are scared for a few months and then go do it again.
I am glad you took the time to speak to the fellow F150 owners about your mistake and take full responsibility for it but, if you really want to make your family proud, dont do it again, keep your family close and you will always be known for being the dui deputy but, you wana earn some respect, go to some schools with photos of it and tell the kids that think it wont happen to them and show them it can.
You said you didnt want to take photos because you wanted to forget about the hole thing,? Why, so you can do it again and, oh ya, I did this before, it sux! Take photos, go to schools, make a impact, turn it into some good.
Good luck with the ruins and get another F150, treat her right!

Guys, I understand that drinking and driving is a very, very bad think. Ok I get it. I have pulled may people out of cars/trucks that have been hit by drunk drivers and the drunk be fine. So I understand, I really do. I have even lost family as a result of a drunk driver. But with all that being said, had Wade just been the guy that picks up your trash at the local Burger King, and not a cop, firefighter, or school teacher, do you really think that it would of even made the news. NO IT WOULD NOT HAVE! I do not believe that one nights bad judement, should define his career. I believe that a sup is fine.
We all make mistakes, and If Im pretty sure that I read somewhere that MAN SHOULD NOT JUDGE UNLESS HE BE JUDGED HIMSELF. For all of you calling for his job, think about it, the next time you up, should you be fired. Everytime a public person does something stupid, the news is quick to point out that this person was a cop or firefighter or what ever, but like I said before, John Q Public gets into trouble and theres no news coverage. This guy is going through HELL, Yes He ****ED UP, if this was his second or more DUI/DWI, Id be right in line, calling for his badge.

And who ever was saying that Cops set the example for the rest of us..., Id bet your the same bunch of tards that say pro athletes are roll models for our kids. NO one sets the example for me other than my parents.
Just my two cents

I'm astounded that you still have your job. Not only did you get caught drinking and driving, you got caught with a totaled vehicle while drunk. You must be real good friends with the boss man.

I believe they take an oath to uphold the law. Something you can't say about the average joe, pro athlete or whomever.

that sucks!! hope that we can all learn something from this.
im sure that if we asked how many people here have driven tipsy, drunk, or other it would probably be somewhere over 50%. for most of us that have know our consequences and the risk we take. all it takes is that one time for them to learn their lesson. no one is perfect, absolutely no one! so do not judge. some community work, a suspension is ok unless its been a problem then definitely call for his job.

Big Slick,
Yes they do, but I have never once expected anyone to be my moral compass other than the two people that brought me into this world.
I understand that the whole looking up to people. But to say that some person that gets off on being in charge, (not being a cop basher but come on we all know a cop that is over the top, they are plenty in the fire service that think they walk on water) should be the becon of hope for anybody. I just hope that my kids dont look up to someone becouse of his or her JOB!
