Should have waited for those new 6.2's to come out, then all the Hemi guys will be asking "can my Hemi take down a Boss?!".

i raced a 4 door hemi, the style right before the 09's looked pretty new and all i know is he had exhaust. and i had the mods listed below. i see the guy on the highway ALL the time and we always notice each other and race. everytime we race he jumps me on the start atleat a trucks length or more but then i end up pulling up and blowing by him. sometimes if i get a nice downshift it will be pretty even and then il end up pullin by. sometimes he likes to fall back and then try flooring it past me by getting a running start too (this is how much we race each other haha) and il wait for him to get a kinda close when hes flooring it up to me and then il put it down, for the most part he has trouble gettin by but there has been a few times when hes just blew by and my truck was workin to catch up. i think if we raced at a stop light, id get smoked...he seemes to have a nice punch when he floors it.

The Hemi's do have good bottom end but put some 3.55 in them or some 4.10 in the F150s and see how it goes

there have been about 10 people talk about racing mustangs, hemi's, and other things and im willing to bet they didn't do it at a drag strip. one guy even said they did it at 2am on a 6mile straight away. also just look at the post above mine. the guy says he races a hemi on the highway all the time....

My experience with the 345hp version of the Hemi is that......for the most part, they are overrated!

If you compare apples to apples I haven't seen them perform a whole lot better than our 5.4 (actually not as good at towing/hauling).

I have a 2008 Screw FX4 with 3.73 limited slip, 5.5ft box (truck weighs 5485lbs without me in it). For mods I have a CAI, dual exhaust and custom tuned Gryphon. I have had my truck on a dyno and had Bill tweak my tunes furthermore based on the dyno info.

I have ran a 2006 quad cab hemi 4X4 with dual exhaust and a 3.55 rear end. I have handled him out of the hole, from a rolling 30mph punch , and from a 50mph punch on up. This was on my 87 performance tune!!! There is a brief range around 30-50mph where he stays quite close........but other than that, I overpower him everywhere. I'm not lucky and it's not a fluke......we can do it all day long and my truck will keep showing that it has more oomph!....and by a good margin as well.
Now, maybe my truck just works real well, I'm not sure but it was a humbling experience for my friend in his Dodge.
I also know my truck still has more as I have never used my 93 performance tune!
the bottom line is......they aren't as special as people let on they are.
As far as your mouthy friend.......I would try him......and would bet a sh*tload that if you drive well and he beats you.......it'll be quite close. You are the underdog and aren't expected to win. But if your trucks are similar configuration......I wouldn't be one bit surprised if you can edge him out.

My dad has an 03 with the 345 hemi. My 06 with gotts mod tows way better than his. But the hemi is sure fun to light up and slide sideways from a stop. They will tow fine as well but with 45 more hp and him running premium we get the same mpg towing with me running 87

^ Well if that is the case, here goes my take! I ran a 04,05 dodge ram 1500 quad cab lowered on factory 20's. He had 6.1 cam, long tubes with x pipe exhaust setup, intake, custom tune, e fan, and 4.56 gears. I had Efan, UD pulleys, custom tunes, cat back exhaust, 3" lift,3.73 gearing with 35's. He got me by one length if that. I thought these trucks were faster than that, but after driving a tuned diesel for a while now. Lemme say going back to a gasser truck or some cars is going to be HARD for me.

I thought the rams came with a 5.7 and another thing those 4.56 gears killed him IMO I might be wrong though lol

They do, yet many guys run the 6.1 cam setup, a mod they call it. It was from rolls to 60ish, so the 4.56 helped him get outta the hole. On top end he would start to pull me by a length and stay there. If I had 33's be even I am willing to bet.
