I just ordered these anyone who has installed this chime in.
Were to tap power from. How they mounted and routed wires any other tips
you want to throw in.

I've got some. I've also got a tonneau cover and I wanted the lights to come on when i opened the cover. I used a door jamb switch and mounted it on the bed rail. I got a 12+ power souce from the amp mounted under my passenger seat.

 

i put 8 blue led's and a white neon tube. looks pretty cool. ran a serperate fused line from the batt. i was gponna go with the recon but found them to be a little to pricy. so the led's cost me $20.

I like the idea. I bet the power for the light comes off the taillights...

 

I ran power from the battery and mounted a toggle switch on the rear bed stake post area. Somehow I fried the switch so I think I'm going to go with a different switch setup this time around; I'm not much for the plunger (so they come on anytime the tailgate is down) since I don't always need them on.

 

I agree with a toggle but I think I will hook into a switched soyrce so I don't leave them on and run done battery.

 

Yea that is a good idea. 90% of all my other stuff is wired that way, but I got lazy doing this and just ran straight from the battery. I left them on one night and luckily they did not run the battery down, but it was severely drained.

 

Jake you heard of anybody that's used those before ? That looks pretty sweet $55 isn't bad either...I am out in the sticks a good bit and need my bed to light up because my Recon 3rd brake light doesn't light up the bed as good as I'd like. I need to get stuff in and outta the bed and it's nice to have it lit up. i would love to do something in the tool box too

well say if you did put like a door jam switch, and u left your tailgate open for quite a bit, u would def have a dead battery. i just made a bracket with a switch, this way when i pop the tailgate open, its right there on the left, switch illuminates as well. just cant forget to turn it off. the only time you would use them is at night anyway, so it would be obvious that they are on.

and being i got so many gadets, i invested in a battery brain. That thing saved my @$$ plenty of times.

 

I used the Recon under the rail LEDs. Then got power from the running light. That way have to have the running lights on. Reduces the chance of leaving the bed lights on and running down the battery. While I am quite sure that there a different ways to get this done, it works for me.

 

I tapped into the cargo light. So if I want the light to stay on I just turn on interior light, they come on when door is opened but fade out quickly.

 

Were did you tap the interior light at?

 

I tapped into it at the door sill, lift up the plastic piece by the carpet. I believe it is a blue/black wire. I ran my wire out thru the bottom, there are some holes thru the floor boards already there, then I came into the bed thru the front of the bed thru the rubber seal.
