To all of you with 100k
These 04+ trucks have a lot of issues to look out for, including:
Whistling grill above 60MPH
Leaking A/C drain
Leaking 3rd brake light
sticking parking brake
cam phasers
stuck spark plugs
whistling alternator in cold
steering wheel shake
warped rotors
failed transmissions
failed window switches
I have had most of these issues in a matter of a few months (50K) and the others are discussed here almost constantly. This generation of trucks is not engineered very well at all. Now most of these problems are minor, and I haven't had it let me down on the road yet, but the sheer number of problems is unacceptable in this day and age in my opinion.
I like my truck, but would I buy another? Hard to say, folks I know with 06 and prior GMs have issues like fuel pumps and injectors leaving them stranded and various electrical gremlins.

29,000 here and still running strong

My dads 05 is at 101,000 and i still runs as strong as the day it came from the factory and has been loaded with tool boxes full of tools and a ladder rack with ladders on it all the time since day one

Same here I have 121K and never had any of those problems listed. I had an issue with a 4WD hub, some sort of driveline clutch and a rubber damper that had to be changed in the driveline.
All my issues were fixed under warranty and they gave me loaner cars every time they needed more than a couple of hours. I would buy another Ford truck in a heartbeat.

Never say never and imply it though, thats when the bad luck hears you
. Happens whenever I open my bragging mouth
My 04 has a wheel shake ever since I got M/Ts, it will whistle in the cold near 10 degrees ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPuw4COf1eU ) But everything else seems sound. I do have a now and then ticking sound in my front passenger door which pisses me off.

126,000miles on my 05 5.4 runs great...has a slight diesel noise to it when at a idle...but ive just come to live with that noise. had a 99 f-150 4x4 when i sold that it had 203,000 miles on it.....and it still ran perfect.....
Just bought a 2006 F-150 supercab 2X with topper for 8700.00 with 160,000 miles on it...looks brand new..truck was a trade in from Georgia...so it will see snow here in Michigan. I was a little worried about the miles...but I heard people saying 230,000...
150k on my 05 stx and i beat on it pretty hard...4.6
Only engine problem so far was a clogged injector
Oem brakes and ball joints lasted up until about 2k miles ago
Oh and the leaky 3rd brake light lol
I bet i get well over 200k out of it

193K on 04 XLT Flareside with 4.6. No problem with the Transmission or Engine to this point -- many highway miles with fair share of towing and off road use. The 4.6L is less complicated and, therefore, less problematic than the 5.4L. I opted to sacrifice less power for better reliability.
Replaced:
ATF regularly with ATF+4 (Better than Mercon V from what I've read)
Spark Plugs every 100K
147K Throttle Body
150K alternator
190K Lower Ball Joints
1 COP Boot (all coils original)
Regular oil changes, but now using about 1/2 qt./1K miles with 5w20 so I'll bump up to 5w30 with the next oil change.
