Thanks for the reply, I had a friend come over and he had to drop the axle u bolts to take out the screw. I left the weight alone. It does not seem like it lowerd too much. I have to buy some 2wd u bolts so I can take the 4x4 block out. Thanks for your help.

How did you lower the front? I'm going to get 2wd u bolts, I installed the shackles and it does not look that much of a diffrence, picture in public album.

You need to order 4, they are sold one to a box.

Afterall 95% of all 4x4's are street queens anyway, so why dump 3 large or more on a lift and wheels and tires just for kicks, frankly thats just idiotic. I bought the FX4 model because I liked the interior better than the XLT, and you can't get a flow thru console in an XLT. In the end its my truck and I'll do what I want, when you start making the payments for me then you can tell what to do with it.
It was a legitimate question; "What is the purpose for lowering the truck?" Perhaps I should have asked, "If you wanted the stance of a 4x2 then why not get a 4x2?" Since you and others like you have a 4x4 I was curious as to why one would lower it.
Of course it's your truck, and I have no intention of making your payments. My question was not a personal attack. If it had been a personal attack it would have sounded a little more like this:
"What kind of moron would lower a 4x4?"
But I didn't say that, because I wasn't thinking that. Seems to me though, that's what you heard.

I don't know about REDFX4, but I wanted a 4x2, but they are hard to find in Wisconsin. Plus, I was only looking at one color, red. My wife said "I could get a new truck if it was a red one." My list of required options is long, so I was looking for a red loaded 4x2 Lariat, which I still have not seen around these parts. I was even considering driving down south to pick one up. I searched dealers inventory in St Louis and Phoenix.

In the end I had to take 4WD and the 20" wheels, and did not get the navigation I wanted. There are not many opportunities to go off road around here, so my truck is limited to a life as a street queen. The reason I spent the money to lower it is because of the pain in my back and hip, and I've had 0 pain since I lowered it.

I sort of wish I had seen a thread like this before leveling my 4x4. Now that I'm leveled, my stock 32" tires look too small. I would have been better off dropping the rear and sticking with the stock tire size. Air bags can level the truck with a load. I don't need the ground clearance of larger tires, so what's the harm in dropping the rear? I miss the point about getting a 4x2 when you need 4x4? If folks are getting 4x4s just for the stance and have no need for a 4x4, that's just... well let me say, I don't get it.
