Possibly Going To Germany What To Do??

I've done both in the past. I had a car and truck in storage for about 6 months in a heated facility: Not cheap but it worked. There used to be easy ways to fog the cylinders so they don't rust up though these were carbureted engines. Disconnect the battery, top off all the fluids, wax and cover it from crap falling on them. I also had a period where for about 15 months while I was in service I couldn't take a vehicle. Being I was single, I left my car with my Dad and he took care of it for me. Started it every so often and drove it occassionally to keep all the seals wet, lubed etc till I got home. I don't know about leaving a vehicle set for 2 years though. Seals will dry out, potential internal rusting issues, that kind of stuff. If it was me and my decision, if I wanted to keep the vehicle I'd either see about having someone I really trusted take care of it for me or see if there's a storage place that would start and move it every so often. If I couldn't find something that worked to keep it then I'd probably have to consider selling it.

I'm at Hood as well (on my way back from Iraq right now actually - 10 more days) and faced a similar situation way back. Get in touch with the Fort Hood Transportation office and ask about the laws and regulations for Germany. If I remember correctly they used to have a max bumper height but the only people that can tell you for sure are the P.O.V. shipping experts at transportation. I know they ship into and out of Dallas so if the transportation reps at Hood don't know then ask for a POC at the shipping site in Dallas.

And if you really want to take it be prepared to put smaller tires on it to get it "shippable". With the auto market the way it is in central Texas you may not be able to recoup what you've put into it financially so if you decide to sell look at advertising in Dallas, Austin, Houston and San Antonio.

After reading all of the posts and thinking if I was in your shoes, I too would sell it and make my profit, then come back and get the truck you really want and beef it up.
Just keep it in a safe place, & have a trusted friend tend to it every month by driving her for a spell to recharge the battery! Change oil to a high quality synthetic & she wil be fine under those conditions I mentioned!!! Good luck!
Thats what im thinking too but this my vehicle im paying for it on my own...Had my moms toyota camry 97 as i turned 18 and had it for 3 months until i decided i couldnt stand driving that and bought this truck i have now. So buying a 21K vehicle being 18 years old ( not like other 18 yr olds that claim its theirs when their parents bought it for them.. i worked my *** off with two jobs to help pay this off working 50 hrs if not more a week )and the truck is almost paid off and just turned 20 on the 2nd . Sitting on 11inches of lift on 37s right now so i think im doing pretty good and on top of that 19 months in service and so far 10 months of it ive been in Iraq. So i really would like to keep it due to the fact its my first vehicle and it will be paid off soon and plan on making it into a show truck running 49s or 52s 4 linked front and rear.
if you can get an outrageous amount of money for it, sell it and maybe invest or put into a cd and buy another truck when you get back.
if not, keep it in storage and when you get back enjoy it and finish it off how you would like.

One thing to remember, even if put in storage, you will need to continue to pay insurance, and if you have someone else take care of it and drive it occasionally, insurance, tags, etc. Many states will not allow you to keep the tags if the vehicle has no insurance. Also with no insurance and in storage, if a fire or it gets stolen, you are SOL. I would still save all that money you are spending now on a loan, insurance and other costs, put it away and buy again when you get home.
