Timing Chain Adjuster
Timing Chain Adjuster
Based on video links from Stealth I have diagnosed my noisy cold startup as a Timing Chain Adjuster problem. Will this hurt the truck to keep driving it without repair? For those who will ask, the answer is that ALL my oil changes are at the dealership with recommended oil and filter. Thanks in advance for your help guys.
It's my understanding the oil pressure leaks down causing the very brief rattle on start-up (after the truck sits overnight for example), but once the pressure builds up the noise stops and it functions normally. Mine does that sometimes.
so its more of an annoyance? my truck won't explode if I dont get it fixed for a month or two?
Well mine is just the start-up rattle, I can't speak for yours. If it's not holding pressure during normal driving and still making noise I'd have it looked at.
Mine is exclusively at startup and oil pressure is within normal limits....so no worries?
Maybe someone more knowledgeable about the subject will chime in.
do you use the motorcraft filter with the anti drainback valve? I think the number is FL820S...or something close

I do. I also use the proper viscosity oil.
