Rearview

This is more expensive but looks like a nice setup. Has anyone tried it out yet?

I bought one last year off ebay for $60+. It's color in the day, and IR at night. Hooked straight up to my Avic D3. Here's a pic where i mounted it. Just left of my plate. Mounted it there so I can back straight up to my trailers. Works good. Also so has a wide view so you can see whats all around the back as you back up.

It comes with spacers so you can aim it straight out or you can angle it down a tad towards the ground.

Here is a link to the album i created trying to detail the install, I was doing a sort of 'how to thread' but the computer decided to 'hybernate' and I lost it. It was kinda lengthy, and well it ticked me off I lost it all

I tried to give a small description with each picture, if anyone wants more info feel free to PM or email me I'm glad to help out!

It's illegal here in Texas, but with the camera so small I'm hoping they never notice **Knock on wood** I have to go in for an inspection this week sometime since it expired last month.

It comes with wiring for power, and enough wire to take the RCA from the head unit to the rear of the truck. The only thing I changed was the power wiring. The wire was such a small gauge that it was hard to make a connection so i butt spliced it with some 16ga wire I had laying around and it was much easier to work, plus it gave me more length than the camera power wire originally gave me to work with. I made all the connections to the reverse bulb wiring with parallel splices, and the gauge of the original power wire was so small it did not work, and I was in no mood to mess with soldering the wires.

In short, do you need more wire than what comes with it? Probably not, but I decided to make it easy on myself with some wire i had laying around.

Code58, where did you mount the monitor in the truck?
Jimmy- I mounted it on the visor facing the ceiling when the visor is up. all you have to do is flip the visor down and it's right in front of you. I would have preferred to mount it permanently in or on the dash but at 7" the monitor is a little large for that. It comes with straps for that type of mount as well as a very nice adjustable bracket for surface mount. It really is a 1st class set-up, not cheap at all. Even has the AV input with cable to use if you want to mount on the back of headrests and the kids can watch videos.

Na, just run the cable and 12 volt through the frame to the engine compartment. hooked power wires to bat. and cable through fire wall and to the radio. then hooked my reverse wire from the radio to the wire to the transmission wire that turns the reverse lights on when you put it in reverse. Took me all about 1.5 hours to do.
