What happens when you load a quad WRONG!

Long story short. Ramp was at a steep angle which needed more speed and/or power to get up, bed mat was dirty underneath and had a tendancy to slip around and took the toolbox out to try and fit the quad in the back better. When I got into the truck with it and hit the brakes the tires locked up and the weight of the quad caused the mat to slip so I didn't slow down at all. BAM skid plate hits the bedrail and ramps right up into the window. I really wasn't going fast at all. It put about a 6" x 12" hole in the window and shattered the rest. So I took the rest of it out.

Glass shop says $1000 for cash replacement, insurance company got them to agree to $673 and I pay my $250 deductible. Sure glad I changed my mind last week. I was just a few mouse clicks away from changing my deductible to $500 to drop my price. After it's fixed that toolbox is going right back in!

Happens to the best of us, my brother did it on his Nissan. Similar situation, the tires were muddy so he had to get a lil momentum to get up the ramps, once in the bed the muddy tires would not bite on the plastic bed liner and into the window it went.

You could buy yourself a nice little utility trailer for that kind of money!

*Note to self*-- if ramp was too steep in Jolly's truck, dont even attempt with my own.

Sorry to hear man, I always hated loading bikes in the back especially when i rode them up. Think you can make anymore shows before they end in oct? pampa the 27th, hooters the 28th, sjc 0ct 4, hooters again in oct.

Buy an in-bed winch. Or buy one for the ATV. Just winch it up to the bed. It's much safer.

We all know you just liked the tundras power rear window. And why do you have to go so fast? I have 6ft ramps and my truck is just as high as yours, i don't have any problems loading my quad.

It is actually not bad at all. I load my 700 all the time with some ramps I got from Lowe's. Just make sure you use the straps to hold them in place and you really don't need much speed.

Jolly Green- Will your ATV not fit with the toolbox, or were you trying to be able to close the tailgate?

any damage to the quad. I use the Black Widow ramp to load my atv's successfully. I have the motorcycle one. I know its a lot but I needed to be able to load my bike or atv by myself just in case no one else is around.

Motorcycle (which can also be used for the atv if you remove the middle section)

I tow mine a 5x8 aluminum trailer instead of loading it the bed. I think that the trailer was about $1200 when my dad bought it. I loaded mine into the bed of my truck and didnt care for the way it loaded coming up the ramps. The only gripe I have about towing it on such a small trailer is that I cant see the trailer when I am backing it up.

That'll buff right out.

Seriously, you can get trailers that make loading/unloading so much easier. Cheaper, too.

If you insist on puttin the quad in your truck, get a 4x4 and cut it to width. This will make a bump stop for the tires before it hits the cab.
