Going to put the truck for sale!!!

I broke $110 mark on filling up the other day. From "E" to "F". Over 28 gallons at $3.99 a gallon. I get 10.62mpg with this thing (35 in Toyo MT, and a lot of wear and tear from mudding has it not performing to the peak). For the first time I thought about selling it but I'm sure I can't get what it's "worth" or not even what I owe on it. I'm seeing newer trucks with less miles on them go for less than my truck. I bought a motorcycle and am averaging 51mpg (VERY NICE) and there's a lot less miles going on the truck. I'm going to list my truck on Ebay and cross my fingers. I doubt I will get what I'm asking, but guess I'll try anyhow. What's the worse that could happen...I'll be out $2.45 for listing fees! I hate doing it, but even with not driving the truck as much, I think the lack truck payments, insurance payments, and gas payments will save me over $600 a month. If I get a boat though, it sure would be hard towing it with the bike.

that's ****ty mileage man. I'm getting 14.5+ highway consistently. I'd just ride it out if I were you, this is a bad time to sell a lifted truck...

I sure hope you hold onto that truck man.

Maybe tow a remote control boat.

First off, listing fees are NOT $2.45 for a vehicle..

Try anywhere from $45 - $85 depending on options. Secondarily, it is ALWAYS better to keep something like a vehicle (depreciating asset) than to get rid of it because of fuel prices. Do what I did, keep the truck. And ride your bike everywhere. 45+ MPG, saves miles on the truck, and is really fun too.

Good luck whatever you decide to do.

^ what chris said, cost me about a hundred or so to list my truck on ebay. When the market was pretty good on trucks, mine sold for I think 17,000. Ebay is a shot in the dark, I have never seen someone get what they were hoping for on a lifted truck there.

You're not going to get anywhere near what you think it's worth. Ford is basically giving away the new ones...

My FX4 is basically in mint condition with 36,000 miles on it and I got offered $14,000 from an acura dealer when on a whim I was looking at the TL type S's. They didn't want it at all actually and called a bunch of dealerships and a Ford one offered them the most (they claimed $12,000 but were willing to "work" with me).

Regardless, $14k for a truck that was $38k a few years ago is a pretty big hit, especially since I dont have many miles on it.

I hear you all. I thought ebay listings were cheap, but that may be for the regular small things I sell. I have been looking on there and it is amazing what trucks newer and "better" than mine are going for. Maybe a craigslist listing and hope for the best. I'm going to guess that I will end up keeping it, especially for the fact that the brand new ones are only a few grand more than I owe on mine. I should have waited on buying my truck till now and gotten a steal of a deal. Oh well...Guess I'll suck up the payments, gas, and insurance for a few more years. THanks for all the opinions , and yes I'm driving the bike EVERYWHERE now. It's great.

PS>If anyone wants an '04 yellow f150 FX4 for $75,000 then let me know...price is negotiable

I agree. Gas will be back around $3.00 next year. THis is market speculation and the current global economy can not support these prices. Those emerging economies that everyone is pointing to as the reason for rising fuel costs will collapse if prices continue to rise.

You will loose way to much money on selling your truck right now. Just continue to use your bike.

Dead on...

It doesn't make sense at any time to sell a truck cause you can't pay the gas, how did you pay it a year ago if you can't now?

we are all feeling the rise in gas prices, I know I am, but I figure I've already got half of my loan paid off and another 16k/3yr to go, not to mention the 15k in aftermarket crap and only 13000 miles. at this point I might as well keep it, 12 mpg sux but I've gotten 23mpg on the highway before. plus I ride my 70 mpg motorcycle if its above 50 degrees.. that bike was the best 2500 bucks I ever spent
