Reg Cab. Short Bed Heavy Duty F150

I know this sounds crazy... but I've been offered a high paying job starting in July... so that means more cash flow.

I'm tempted *when and if* I do get the job to kind of... do an upgrade.

I want to buy a XL F150 with the HD payload package with the regular cab short wheelbase 4x4 option.

From what I've read, this truck can haul 10,800 lbs? Is this correct?

I can't justify spending some crazy amount on a diesel... and I can't lawfully haul heavy loads in my current F150. Plus I want to snowplow with it and stuff. But... I *might* sell the Dak, and S/C this new F150.

I really want a performance truck, and a work truck all in one nifty and small package. Especially if I sell the Dak.

A F250 is too heavy and would waste too much gas and be impractical.

I know I'm ManualF150... but sometimes, you've got to move on. :o

i think that would be a good combo, but just keep in mind that a s/c will lower your towing capacity.

and dont look back on the stick... i have an '01 4.2 with the 5 spd and with that long a$$ throw, it gets old driving it quick. i love manuals, just not in trucks

They don't make a short bed heavy duty F-150. Do you mean short cab?

The regular cab 4x2 can tow 11,000 lbs and the 4x4 can tow 9,500.

SuperCabs can tow 9,500 in a 4x2 and 9300 in a 4x4.

The '09s will be higher...

Hmm... actually, I did a build and price, and for a Heavy Duty F150 it was 28k!

RIP OFF.

I can get a bigger and better truck from 23.5k in a F250 and still have stick!

I think that will be my route.

Yes but keep in mind the rebates currently available. You could probably walk out for around 20k

Which is not bad at all.

Hmm... food for thought.

If I do get the job, I'll get the truck in Sept or Nov... get the plow on it and be set for this winter.

I was debating whether to get a bigger truck or get a tractor... I need a bigger truck before I get a tractor.

Plus I heard that a plow truck is much better to use on the driveways rather than a bucket from a front loader on a tractor.

To me that seems like a good truck for you. You overload your current truck so this one would not be as stressed doing the same jobs. Bragging about your gas mileage will go out the window, but you will have the capability now for all that rock you like to haul around. I think its not a bad idea really. Have you ever priced anything on carsdirect.com? It shows you all rebates currently available and gives you a good idea what you could actually get the truck for. You should build the truck there and see what the discount price they are offering is

Shifting a pickup Bites!

I had a 1991 Chevy K-1500 5.7 5-speed with a floor shifter the size of a softball bat! I shifted that Bytch for 50,000mi! I will never buy a manual for a Pickup truck again, in this lifetime nor the next!..............

How would you be able to get into a F250? Wouldn't you need longer legs?

Anyone who pulls 10K+ lbs with a half ton pickup is a damn fool. I don't care what the manufacturers say.
