Rear Axle

Have appointment for a leak in the right rear axle on Friday. 42000 miles no towing (yet) with truck should this be an issue?

By the tire or where the axle meets the pumpkin?

it's not common, but it does happen. it's an easy fix though. just expensive if there are more problems

hopefully the axle seal was only leaking outward, so no dirt/crap got into there. if it did, then you might have to replace axle shafts, or the axle

if they quote you more than $500 to fix, I would just go find one in a junkyard and do the swap in your driveway. and if you're 4x2, you can get a 3.73 with LS for <$1k fairly easy...might even get lucky and find a HD axle with 4.10 gears

I had the exact problem last week, but mine was still under warranty. I just happened to notice it looked wet on the plate where the brakes are mounted.

It's a common problem with these trucks. I think there is a thread about replacing the axle seals.

Found it.
