Telescoping trailer towing mirrors finally on
Here are some pictures, I hope it will help another person who tries to install it ...
Here is the connector which goes into the mirror. Pin 2 has been moved to pin 8 (Ground) location and pin 9 moved to pin 11 (Puddle light) location. I used a 1/32" drill bit (from my dremel set). I pushed the pin a tad forward using the cable, and then pushed the drill bit to the outer edge of the pin. Instant release was very satisfactory. Someone had used a small cable but the drill bit was all I had.

Here is the Molex connector, I HATE THAT THING !!!!!!

Door side connector is open ... all you have to do is find the clip at the bottom and it peels off, and then take the rubber off it carefully

I checked both the front and back of the connector and bottom left pin connection is unused !

Here is my gun !

And the result !

The cable went through just fine ....

Back view .... when drilling make sure the drill piece goes through perfectly, not angled ...

Here is the puddle lamp power ! Waiting to be connected to the pin 11 !

Connector before I closed it with the extra wire runnign through it

I had to remove that hunking cable thingie to be able reach the bolt to take off the parking brake mechanism ... what a bear that was !

The cabin side molex connector would not come out completely ... so I drilled it in place !

All done with running the cable through both of the connectors !

Finding the puddle light wire, first try and I had it !!!

And here is my truck with the new mirrors !
Thanks a bunch folks for this write up and all the help !

Molex connector has a metal clip at the bottom, You have to push it up to release it to go inside. It was pretty difficult (For the driver's side) to put it back in place. I had to use a very long screw driver and push it up from inside so that it would sit back where it belonged.
Definitely do the driver's side first as with the molex connector it is much more difficult then the passenger side.

Goomph, Looks good.
My 06 looks nothing like yours! I did not have the molex connector at the door, I just have a rubber tube running through open on both ends... my was a ton easier then yours...
So now I have a question for all you who have them installed. Does your turn signal lights light up with the brakes also. ( kinda like the old trailer brake / turn all in one? Anyway mine do, at first I did not like it that was and was planning on running new wires, however now I like them that way.
I never had a clue there was so many different things on the same model year F150 XLT truck. I guess as long as the outside is the same everything is cool!

The turn signals on the mirror does not light up with the brakes .. meaning when I hit the brake pedal, turns signals do not light up. Otherwise, if I have the turn signal on and brake, the signal keeps blinking on the side I am going to turn to ... brake does not effect the turn signals.

Sounds like you tapped into the wires for the rear of the vehicle instead of the wires that feed the front signals.
Sounds like you are correct Sir! Well like I said it's okay now... use to it!
07- towing mirrors
Maybe this has been answered, so excuse the rehash. I just replaced my standard mirrors on my 07-F150-XLT with 7L3Z-17683 AND 17682-AE mirrors. I didn't have turn signal on old mirrors, should turn signal on new mirrors work anyway, or is there something else that needs to be done? Mirrors adjust fine, but turn signal not working. Thanks, john

If you have heat ( defrost ) you will have more wires or just more wires to run... if your mirrors have heat... Sorry I can't help more, my F150 is a 2006!

Looks like trucks were configured differently depending on options and production date. My 06 only had one ground in the harness located at pin 9. I had to move it to pin 11 to get the signals to work.
Whew!
OK. First post here.
I've read all the posts in this thread. I think I'm ready to install my new mirrors. I should be getting them on Tues. or Wed.
I ordered them from Tasca. They were a bit more expensive (with shipping to Alaska) than most on here paid. $394.00.
I bought a pin extractor tool to move the pins. I'll move the pin from #2 to #11 and find it in the wire harness to reuse for my puddle lamp connection. Pin #9 to #8 for the ground and I think later this summer I'll tackle the heat portion.
Thanks to all of you guys and gals for the info.
This is a great website! Next I'll be researching a lift kit.

I did mine last week and on my 06 I have the molex connector but with the help of the pics above I was able to run a wire thru it for the puddle lamps. The only other two wire I had to move were the #2 and #8 las mentioned above. The 06 plug has two grounds in it where as the new mirror only needs one in the #9 pin spot. So after I moved the #2 to the #11 spot I cut that wire and tapped the wire from my interior lights into it and everything worked great. Maybe 3 hours total just taking my time and doing it right.
