I did NOT cut the 2nd ground at the driver side like some say to do. Will this cause any issues? Should I use this as the puddle light like some have said?
Thanks again!
i wouldnt think so about the 2nd ground...

what i did was move ground from pin 9 to pin 8. i then cut the ground from pin 11 in the door and tied into that and ran it to the drivers door seal. there you tap into the black with light blue stripe wire that is the interior dome light. hope that makes sense....

Yes, it's starting to make sense. I'm not all that great with wiring...haha
So basically cut wire at pin 11, run my extra lead wire to that, re-solder the 3 of them together, run the OTHER end of my lead to the black/blue tracer and tie into that. now when i hit my unlock button my puddle lamp will work? will I also do this on the pasenger side? (#11 pin, cut and tie into, then run lead to the black/blue tracer again?)

Im sure this is why why passenger blinker isnt working. I didnt change the pin location on the passenger side as I did on the driver side....
The more this is making sense, the more I feel like an idiot!! Lol.

Thanks for all the help!!! This forum rocks!

u dont have to resolder them together. the new mirrors only use one ground. they must be tied together somewhere in the mirror.

yes u need to change the pass mirror also.

for the pass puddle, i just tied into the same wire that i did for the driver. they do the same thing at the same time so i only taped into the OEM harness in one spot.

take ur time, u will get it....im about to work on some Clearance and front turn signals lights on mine!!!

Well, got the passenger side blinker to work! I see exactly how Im going to get the puddle lights to work now. I just need to go out and buy the new pins for the wiring.
Those of you with the heated mirrors, did you tap into your rear defrost to get them working? I dont have rear defrost on my truck. Could I buy the switch from Ford and just use that to turn on the heat for my mirrors? Im not sure where to pull power from for those babies.........

Hey guys! So its been about a month since I put my TT Mirrors on and I love them! I just noticed, however that when I turn my turn signals on, the little light on the heat button blinks at the same tempo!!! Im not sure if I want to dive into it and fix it yet, mostly cause I'm tired of taking my door apart. When I installed them I just plugged and played. I'm thinking it's happening because I didnt move any wires around, right? Ground problem maybe?

that sounds right but i just looked over the diagrams and dont know why it would effect that heat button. the heat on the mirrors is pin one in both the 04-06 and 07-08. which mirror do you have? do you have all power signal heat???

I have an 04 with power, heat and signals. The mirrors I ordered were the power with signal/heat/puddles. I know the power and signals work, but have not really tested the heat since I didnt think it would work without moving wires. Thanks for any help labman, your help in this thread has been invaluable to many.

x2 on that!

If I dont have heated mirrors stock, how can i activate the heat on the mirrors for the winter? Would I have to buy a switch of some kind?

The wires should be already in the door..at least they were for me and others.

To make the heat work you will need a new heater control w/defrost button and a new passenger side fuse block. Both items are plug and play and both are about 130.00 bucks.

Also this has been covered at least 4 times throughout this thread already

Put these one while we were on our camping trip. Moving the ground was EASY... I just didn't have the time to get the puddle lamps working, yet. I need to get a hold of some of the pins that go in the connector.

I just placed an order for a set as well. I am still confused about moving the ground. I have an 04 with power, signals, and heat. So my mirror now has two grounds but the new mirrors have 1 ground. Do I splice the current two grounds from my old mirror together then connect them to the new mirror. I am sure I am making this more complicated then it needs to be.

Are the wiring diagrams from Tascas website all i need to figure this out. I understand pretty well how to run the puddle wire off the dome lights.
