Shifter Cap Broke...But I have an Idea

Well my shifter cap broke today and it got me thinking about how it would be cool to have some sort of billet replacment, but there is not one that I know of. So I started thinking of something cool to take its place and came up with the end of a shell casing. Anyone know where I could find one on the net that is a large enough caliber to cover the hole? Or if you have any other ideas for a replacement.. If I can't find anything then I'll get it fixed, but I figured I'd give it a thought. Also, is there anything inside the plastic piece that sticks out of the middle or is it just to support the top?

I know it would be an easy fix to put back on...I was just trying to think of something new to make it unique. So the plastic piece sticking out is just for support? Anyone have a diagram of the shifter?

It is somewhat for support, ill look for the diagram I was given when I did the LT swap and scan it in. I think it houses a spring or parts for the trigger.

Search around for a spent 40mm grenade shell. That might be the right size.

mine came loose when it was still under warranty... I'm 99% sure that the dealer just glued it back on with superglue...

If a 40mm case will fit I MIGHT be able to help. Measure it and get back with me.

This thread revival would've been worth it if this part number was correct. The number you listed is for a column shifter end cap. The cap referred to in this thread is for a '04-'08 chrome cap for the flow through shifter. Too bad cause mine is starting to delaminate.
