Shift Lever Cap (06 with floor shifter)

The chromed cap on the top of my shift lever has broken off. Where can you find this part besides the dealer? I rest my hand on the top of the shifter all the time and now its uncomfortable because there is a sharp edged square part sticking out of the shifter that the cap was covering.

Maybe an online dealer. No one else is going to make that part.

i used loctite or some other extra strength adhesive to glue it back on. No problems since. Cost me about 4 dollars and 25 seconds of my time.

I have a top left over, I was waiting for a post like this so someone could make use of it as it's often needed but hard to find. I believe my clips are broke on mine so it too would need to be glued.

Thats exactly what happened to mine also. I don't want to spend any more money on this truck, because I'm waiting to hear the outcome of my lemon law case. I'll probably superglue or epoxy it over the Christmas holidays. I wonder how much the dealer would charge for this piece anyway?

Ford put the cheapest plastic assembly ever in a place that the driver will touch every single day. I'm talking about the entire shift lever. The new expeditions have a much nicer shift lever.

It's covered under warranty. Tell them you want it fixed right and not with crazy glue

Josiah,

If you still have your extra chrome shift lever cap, I'd be willing to buy it from you! I broke mine off a few months back and I think that my son added it to his "collection" of interesting items (read: never to be seen again)

Let me know if you would like to sell it.

Mike.

Yep, that was my truck. Same thing happened and warranty covered it. They also replaced it with an updated part # and the button works much smoother, you definitely notice the difference. Head to your dealer!

My dad broke mine off and the only way to get a new cap is to purchase the entire shifter. It is 32.xx online I believe. There is a part number floating around here somewhere. I simply super glued mine on and it works fine. You dont even notice it.

I'm in the same boat. Hmmm. I need to figure out if I want to spend the time dealing with the dealer or just use the glue.
