2007 Screw 4x4 FX4 5.4 7000 miles just had the truck in today and they replaced the battery. Twice last week temps 9 and 11 deg. and truck would turn over 5-6 times and then dead battery. They put it on the tester for several hours and then replaced the battery. My old F150 98 had the original battery when I traded in august with 100000+ miles. Looks like they might be putting in cheezy batteries.

I have an 04 lariat SCREW 4x4, still have factory battery, hitting 40k miles. Had to jump the truck a couple times, but I think its the siren for work thats drawing down power.

I replaced the original battery on my 04 at 64,000 miles. On cold mornings it would barely crank the truck so I went to Autozone and bought an Optima Red Top.

Have it checked out. It could also be a bad alternator, or something that you may have left on. I have woken up the next morning from a night of debauchery to find lights left on, radios left on, et cetera.

Priority Start

PriorityStart!

12-Volt ProMax

[Fleet Model]

$104.95

Saves your fleet money and keeps your vehicles on the road at the same time. Specially designed for all of the Law Enforcement, Utility, and Emergency Vehicles. Now new circuits give voltage surge "spike" protection.

NEW for 2005 & 2006:

*

Redesigned Drive Gear System
*
Redesigned Circuit Board and Computer Chip
*
High Voltage “Spike” Surge Protection

PriorityStart! 12-Volt ProMax is specially designed for Fleet, Law Enforcement, Utility, Emergency, and Security vehicles. It monitors battery voltage when key is off, detects and automatically disconnects any drain on battery while maintaining starting power and protecting the battery and alternator from damage. Automatically reconnects by simply operating the headlight switch or stepping on the brake pedal. By installing PriorityStart! 12-Volt ProMax many departments are realizing, as much as 75% savings in the reduction of lost man-hours and down time because battery related problems.

As electronics take over more and more of automotive vehicle operations, voltage spikes are an increasing problem. Transient voltage “spikes” can cause damage to computers, 2-way radios, MDT equipment, cameras, and other electrical equipment. PriorityStart! 12-Volt ProMax now has voltage “spike” protection.

Available configurations to fit any 12 or 24-volt application. No hard wiring or bolting. No buttons or switches to push. Transferable. Totally automatic!

The more demand you place on a battery the more protection is needed to prevent it from dying prematurely. This innovative product meets the demands of multiple accessories on fleet vehicle.

Often multiple accessories mimic “engine run.” The PriorityStart! 12-Volt ProMax is specially designed to handle multiple accessory loads, utilizing higher value electrical components to monitor “engine run” when the engine is off. PriorityStart! 12-Volt ProMax is successfully being used in vehicles with:

*

2 Way/CB Radios
*

Radar Systems
*

Cameras
*

Cell phones
*

Computers

*

Flashlight Chargers
*

Mobile Equipment
*

Dual Batteries
*

GPS
*

Digger/Derricks

Vehicles utilizing GPS systems, 2 way/CB radios, computers, lifts or other high amp accessories that are “LIVE” at all times especially NEED the PriorityStart! 12-Volt ProMax unit to protect the battery .

The “engine run” circuitry is a patented safety feature on the PriorityStart! 12-Volt ProMax to prevent the unit from disconnecting your battery while the engine is running (while the vehicle is on the road, etc.)

Circuits within the unit recognize an “engine running” condition by sensing electrical “noise” (30 millivolts) created by fuel injectors, fuel pumps, fan motors, etc., and will not disconnect the vehicle battery.

(If a vehicle alternator or alternator belt fails, the “engine running” circuitry recognizes the condition and prevents disconnection at the 11.7-volt threshold. This allows the vehicle engine to continue running on the reserve capacity of the battery. In such a situation you are entirely dependent on the reserve capacity of the battery. PriorityStart! 12-Volt ProMax will not disconnect the battery as long as the engine is running.)

Pro-Series circuitry is modified with heavier duty capacitors and other electrical component to filter out the “electronic noise” created by multiple accessories.

I just replaced my 04 battery this winter. It took a crap in the zero degree weather. It had always been a bit weak before also. Put in a Duralast Gold, and all is well now.

05 with 14,000 miles and looks like I am going to be having ford replace mine. Left my sirius radio on last spring for 3 days without driving the truck and ran the battery down. Jumped it and was fine. The other day when I put gas in it i pulled away from the pump and made some adjustments to the edge and poof, dead battery. The radio and headlights/fogs were on. Sat for like 10 minutes, had to do the edge twice. Had a buddy jump it, an was going again. The truck had only set for about 4 days but was really cold. The first time I had nothing, had to use the key to unlock the truck. This time I got the clicks. Stupid cheap ford battery!

I am in Las Vegas and every car or truck we have owned the battery will only last about 3 years. My neighbors cars are the same way.It must be the extreme heat that cooks the batteries. I have replaced the battery in my truck only once after about 3 yrs....it is an 04

Same with mine. Around same mileage, went to lunch and everything was fine. Went to go home from work and nothing. No click, nothing.

I had to replace mine after about a year and 13,000 miles if I remember correctly. Factory battery didn't last very long. Replaced at the dealer under warantee. I moved to ND and replaced that one with the Optima Yellowtop due to extreme cold and a need for more cold cranking amps (not that it wouldn't start, it just didn't start very easily). I highly recommend the yellowtop.
