I think he said he had <$1,000 in the project. so, if a motor with that old of technology can put out #'s like that, and still get amazing HP, TQ and MPG, what makes a 500 hp "sport" F-250 so special?

I personally don't like the truck for auction. My reasoning is that it is "rebuilt" titled and the write-up sounds sleazy. And it is kinda ugly. These new body styles favor the Scab and Screw cabs. And yes, I am quite happy every time I step into my 1 of 1,000,000 F-150. I've personalized it somewhat, and will continue to.
Thats the thing we are talking about diesel its old technology the new technology is being killed by all the smog and emissions regulations. Doesn't really matter though that is one bad A** ford, I would love to own that.

I do hope you realize that your smogged out 460 only puts out about 230hp/360 tq for that 12 mpg. That's less hp/ same tq as my 5.4 which averages 14mpg in a truck with similar weight. Now you take that 460 and build it to make 500 horse and see what happens to your mileage. Instant drop to about 6. Plus, if you are adding compression, you now have to run higher octane fuel. Now you can make the argument that with an OD and a more aerodynamic vehicle you may be able to get better mileage, but you also have to figure in drivability of that 460 compared to the V10 that you can drive every day with no issues. I'm not a Dodge guy, and I love the 460's, but if you're trying to say that a 460 is more efficient than a V10, you're smokin somethin'
