2007 4.6 Sucking noise

I have a Brand New F150 4.6 no mods it makes a sucking/whistling noise when i give about 1/8 throttle, Sounds like it coming from the intake throttle body area. I took it to the dealer and we test drove another new truck it also made the same noise but maybe not quite has loud mine but it was still there. Is the common and if so its drivin me nuts is there a fix Thanks for any Help or info..

I have an 07 4.6 and I don't hear any noise. When I roll the windows down I can hear the engine a little more when I'm on the throttle, but nothing alarming. Maybe check your air filter and make sure its in correctly and hasn't been messed with.

Try to change the OEM belt with a GATORBACK Goodyear Belt. I have the 2007 and I hear a bit of the whistling noise you are talking about. But it is a heavy truck and not a car, so expect some engine noise. The other thing you can do, is switch to a synthetic oil. The synthetic oil will help you run the engine smoother and quieter.

That sucking noise is the sound of all the gas money you will be spending on your truck. But you got to love the truck.

It sounds like a vacuum leak but the dealer said is normal i dont know if i believe that. Once u get past the 1/8 pedal spot it goes away its only in that certain throttle position. Oh well may i have to get a flowmaster to drown out the noise Thanks for the help

My 07 has a sound like that and my cat back did not cover it up.I found my noise it comes from the stock intake. The cone shaped part that slides into the fender.I took it off and the sound was gone when I put it back the sound came back.It seems to me its just normal for the way it it put together.

I recently purchased an 06 4.6 and mine has done the same thing every since I got it! Except I have the flowmasters on there and it's still not drowning it out. :-/

It's a very strong/loud "sucking" sound almost like a CAI would sound like, I imagine.. It's true it goes away once I press further down on the gas..

Truth be told the sound doesn't really bother me as much as I'm afraid something is wrong with my truck.. if it's okay as in.. no harm will be done from it I can live with it. Makes it sound all big and powerful.

**This is my first post on the forums, I was planning a big "coming out" post I"ve been lurking for a few weeks.. but I'll have to post pics and introduce myself later when I get home. I'm at work right now.

Yea man don't waste your time at the dealer. This is normal on these trucks. I just bought an 07 4.6 XLT and it does that same thing. I've just learned to drive it with just enough throttle so that it doesn't bother me. Plus turning the stereo up helps..lol I would look around on the forums to figure out what exactly causes that noise and find a way to minimize it. I'll probably try finding out what it is one of these days but I just haven't had enough time to play around with it. good look.

I have an 07 STX 4.6 and it made the hissing noise ever since I drove it off the dealer lot. Its definitely from the drivers side, possibly the air cleaner since that is where the inlet is. I hope to get a K&N set up soon so I will fill you in if the noise goes away!

My 07 FX2 4.6 has the same hissing noise! Funny thing is, all day yesterday, the techs at dealer and even foreman couldn't hear the hissing I was describing. I hear, my wife hears it on passenger side, yet no else can! So annoying, you have no idea! I even went down there to drive around with foreman, to let him here it himself. I heard for 15 miles, I can create noise at will, and he couldn't hear anything! Unbelievable! I might try that intake cone thing though.

That's the sound of your engine trying to breath through that straw, err, I mean stock intake tubing they put in there to appease the NVH *****. Once you get a nice CAI on there you'll replace that hissing with a satisfying "WHOOOOSHHHH" when you mash the throttle.

What's weird is the sound is at partial throttle.

Shouldn't the stock intake make weirder sounds the more you mash the throttle?
