i saw one sideways on the back of am 18 wheeler right behind the cab in front of the trailer. the guy probably just tosses it off and drives away.

they do have good crash ratings but they arent safe for the body because of the 'recoil' i guess you could call it. the car bounces back like 30 ft after impact

also they arent very fuel economic...they only get 33/41 mpg. my wifes turbo volvo s60 gets about 27. that isnt THAT much better that i would get a tiny little clown car.

I wonder if they power it by putting a wind-up key in the back and turning it to wind a rubber band.

The wife bought one the beginning of the summer..We're in Cleveland,Ohio and shes driven it to Florida,Virgina twice, and Michigan a few times. It cruised down the road at 70 mph and is actually comfortable. And rated one of the highest in crash test ratings(in the small car class) as tested here..http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24599768&GT1=43001.
Its built around a steel roll cage similar to a Nascar.Mind you the car will be pretty much destoyed but you will walk away. And it offsets the mileage I get with my truck by getting 45 mpg.

But your right its small on the outside..a little longer than a 8ft sheet of plywood... but our 6'7" kid drives it all the time. The wife is 5'10" heres a pic of her in it..plenty of room.heated seats, full gage package,cd and mp3,power lock and windows,sunroof..all and all a neat little car..reminds me of the LeCar for all you guys in your 40's.But this one is designed by Mercedes.

Those are fun to drive. Rented one while in spain. There is surprisingly a lot of room in the front. I am 6'3" at 250lbs and I had plenty of room.

The lady who drive the blue one runs triathlons with my wife, the other one just stopped in because he saw a new smart car in the neighborhood.

Actually saw footage of these 2 guys, at least 6'5" and 300lbs. walking around the Detroit auto show a couple of years ago trying out different cars to see how they fit and of all the cars they tried, this was the only one that they fit in and actually had plenty of room! Absolutely amazing.

Years ago I worked in a Chevy dealership and this guy about 6'7" came in with his Corvette and I looked in it and he had taken the seat out and put a cushion on the floor and leaned back against the wall that rises over the rear axle. That was the only way he could drive it comfortably.

I'm 6'5" and drove the blue one in the picture I posted. Though I had plenty of head room I did not have plenty of leg room. My knee was between the steering wheel and the door and got in the way when turning corners. This is a common problem for me in small cars. I have to be careful when closing the door to make sure my knee does not get squashed between the door handle and steering wheel.

They turn on a dime. The first thing I tried to do is a U turn with two 10' lanes in a subdivision. It almost made it.
