4.10 gears

im looking to upgrade my 3.55 gears to 4.10s with a LSD. however i have no idea where to even begin looking and how much i should spend. any input/advice is welcome.

also what size rear end to i have is the the 8.8, the 9 or the 9 3/4?

How would we know?

What motor? What model?

5.4L 3V = 9.75

now i just need to know how much i should pay without over paying and also where to buy them. also anybody know any shops around middle TN??

These are only listed at 184.95. Is that the correct thing??? If it is, it is a lot cheaper than I thought.

do i need to replace my limited slip or can i keep the OEM one? right now its on 3.55s

I think you can keep your OEM LS. All you are replacing are the ring and pinion.

Labor is the killer on this project. I'm doing the samething right now and the shops are charging between $400-$450.

I would recommend you buy the master overhaul kit, which has new bearings, shims, rear seal, crush sleeve and nut. All you get with your new ring and pinion is friction modifier. You will also need about 3 quarts of fluid. I also bought a new TA diff cover for extra security and ease of future diff oil changes.

Just a thought.
