No light. Why would you need one?

I miss having a light under there too. Same thing in the glove compartment. They don't make things like they used too...

Yeah, my $12k (new, 1993 dollars) 1993 S-10 has an underhood and glovebox light, but my 32k+ (new) 2006 F-150 does not...Sad. Not that my F150 doesn't have about everything else over the S-10.

It was one of the many cost reductions made by Ford.

I too don't understand

I don't know why they didn't put a light under the hood and or the glove box.
I thought it was ridiculous how they used to but now don't...
the purpose of having them is the convenience of visibility.
For those of us that care about our vehicles and don't just leave it to the dealership/lube-shop.
My old 86’ Bronco used to have a light under the hood that was retractable 25ft.

Mine came with the wire for the underhood light, but it doesn't have a bulb.

Bleh, I never thought those lights were bright enough. That's why I have a couple flashlights.

To see things in the dark, duh. Thought that was kinda obvious.

The lights that came on the older '88-'97 GM full sizes were awesome. They dismounted from under the hood and the retractable wire payed out from the housing. The wire was long enough to reach both rear tires to give you some light if you had to change one at night in the middle of nowhere, as well as to look around underneath the truck if something wasn't right.

Ummm.....is it that out of fashion to carry a flashlight or a 12 volt light you can plug in if you need to see something after dark? You can even buy one that connects directly to the battery, so if you feel the need to change the spark plugs at 2 A.M. on a dark country road you can do so.

You go look under your hood in the dark.

I'll look under different "hoods" in the dark....
