Windshied Projection Speedometer
#2
They are called heads-up-displays or HUDS and they are patterned after military fighter jets which use this feature to display various information to pilots without them having to look down at the instruments to get it. I haven't seen any for the F150 but that doesn't mean there aren't any out there. Maybe someone who has seen them will chime in.

I remember these on the Maximas...
To my recollection, the windshield actually had a spot in it (it was built into the glass) that served as a viewing window for the projection 'thing' that was in the dash.
Not sure if you'd have to have something like that on the dash or not... it sure sounds like a cool device.
The problems that I'd see would be getting the signal from the speedo or from the PCM to the device to project it. While I know it's digital 'somewhere' within the system, how would one pull it out and project it?
I'd be exceedingly interested in seeing where you could go with this... Please keep us updated if you pull something like this off!
