LOOK, NO KEY!!! – ford2004f150, STARTER BUTTON INSTALL!

Parts used:
PC fan connecter for ATX motherboard
1 foot of wire
1 Honda S2000 engine starter button (p/n 35881-S2A-911) found on ebay = $10
2 small wire nuts

How I hooked it up:
The S2000 switch is hooked up using two wires, one for ground (tapped into cig ground)
The other for my CA670 alarm remote start trigger wire. This requires a ground pulse to be applied to initiate the remote start.
Once the button is pushed, a ground pulse is sent to the trigger wire and the truck starts without the key.

Security:
7 Layers of security
1. The steering wheel is locked without the presents of the key turned in the tumbler. No steering without the key!
2. The truck cannot be shifted into gear without pressing the brake.
3. The brake is the kill for the remote start, once you push it without the key in, it shuts off.
4. The CA670 has a turn off switch to deactivate the remote start feature, thus leaving the start button useless if need be. (I have this switch in a hidden spot)
5. Anytime the truck is started it pages my 2-way key fob to let me know the truck is starting. (I’ll know if someone tries to start it.)
6. The parking lights flash once and turn on solid once the truck is running. This gives a visual that the vehicle is started and active.
7. If the button is pushed again (after the truck is running) it will shut off. This keeps the starter from engaging during engine operation too.

I use it when I need to run into the corner store I can press the button (while the truck is running w/ key in) it will engage the ignition, so it stays running, then I can REMOVE the key and it will STAY RUNNING. This allows me to run in and back out of the store (on those hot or cold days) without turning off the truck or leaving the keys in it. I can lock and arm it with the key fob too.

Why I did I choose a Honda part?
The Honda button is very nice looking and gives a “stock look” to it. It matches F-150’s interior with the chrome ring. Best of all, it fits flush and has a real simple clean finish look to it. I didn’t want any too BIG or something that looked aftermarket with logos…

I gave some though to using the Ford GT start button, but the price was TOO high!

This mod was great because it uses my CA670 to control the PATS and other electronics, thus I am not building a wiring harness from scratch nor endangering F-150’s sensitive electrical system. This mod can be done on any vehicle equipped with remote starter featuring a start trigger wire such as the CA670.

I hope I answer most questions but feel free to ask more.

Comments and input is welcome!

Please let me know what you think!

Now for the pictures…...

Do you have remote start on your truck? If so then all of your reasons are mute because you can start the truck and your wife can roll the windows up/down, use heat or ac if you use the remote start.

thats sweet, although i have a question, it says 7 levels of security and the first one is you cant steer without the key in the ignition so if there if your keys are in your pocket and you start the engine, then can you steer? or are you just starting the truck to warm it up?

The way I see it is you have to put the key in he ignition, switch it on...then reach over and push button start it. Where as all you had to do factory was put the key in the iginition and crank it.

Cool...you have actually complicated the process.

I'm sick of people doggin' on other peoples mods, all you had to do is drive your truck stock but instead you have dropped your truck and put 24's on it. Congratulations you have just spent more money on something useless if that is how you look at things.

Nice. But am I mistaking or can a stranger start it if the doors are unlocked?
