Aftermarket throttle body 5.4l 3v

What are the advantages of an aftermarket throttle body? I found this for the 5.4l 3v. Would it be worth it?

I was told that the stock throttle body is larger than the 75 mm BBK unit, so if that is true, you would actually lose airflow and H.P.

The last Dyno day I went to a guy there asked Mike about an aftermarket throttle body he said it works better as a paper weight / noise maker

Are you sure he wasn't talking about the spacer? If I'm not mistaken the stock throttle body is 70mm not 75,

Exactly! These things are horrible to tune for and I have heard horror stories from the '05+ Mustang crowd. The F150's are basically the same TB but a different shape and the gears are inferior to the stock pieces. There have been a few cases of them sticking open which would automatically turn me away! Its just not like the good ol 5.0 days anymore.

Mike Troyer. When I ordered my tunes, I was going to put a BBK 75mm TB on and I asked Mike to write that into the tunes, he told me not to waste my money on it, that the stock one was bigger.

After thinking about it, I went out and pulled my stock throttle body off and measured it, and as it turns out, the narrowest point is at the blade, kinda like a venturi. It's wide at the top, narrows at the blade, then widens again before the manifold. The measurements are 3.23" or 82 mm at the top, 2.95" or 75 mm at the blade, and 3.04" or 77 mm at the base. I would guess that all 3v 5.4's have the same TB, but mine is an 07. Now if the BBK unit is a straight 75 mm,then I would rather keep my stock TB.

glad you measured yours, I was about to go out an measure mine. Now the question is y would an aftermarket company sell a throttle body that is the same size, or smaller than a stock one???
no one may ever know

Ummm... because there's one born every minute? Actually, the way it's going I think that stat needs to be updated to say 'every 30 seconds'.

All because kondoms are harder to get than beer.

How about a dyno run before you install your BBK.?
You have said that a JLT/XCAL and straight pipe is better than other available setups.
You have it why not dyno and post before and after results instead of others taking the word of you and your butt dyno?
